John Goncalves and the folks from Litchfield County Mechanical are some of the best HVAC experts that I might ever hope to have had working on my house. Our 1910 seaside cottage (winterized and with space added to it in the 1980s) was never built with forced air heat and air conditioning in mind. Yet John, together with the skilled carpenters of prime contractor Gulick and Co. were able to find imaginative ways not only to hide new ductwork but to put it to good use, e.g. as benches and other convenient surfaces that actually add value to our home. The performance of the resulting system gives one superbly regulated heat and cool air from all of 5 zones just when and where you need it. I'd recommend Litchfield County Mechanical to anyone with an HVAC need. These are the people you need.

John had come recommended by a colleague of mine. When I contacted him he scheduled a time to come over and determine a quote. We had recently moved into a 4,000+ sq ft home without central air. Needless to say, after one summer, we needed something! While at my house, I said to John â if this was your house, what would you do?â We went through a list of options including, to my surprise, a heat pump that would also provide heat to supplement our furnace. Within a few days I received a quote with several options listed as â add onesâ . At the price he gave me, I expect the heat pump to pay for itself after one full winter and, if it works as I think it will, the ROI on the heat alone, if oil stays where it is, will probably pay off my entire HVAC project within 10 years. I shopped around and recognized that Johnâ s quote was by far the most competitive and fair. Every day he was there he was prompt, every morning sent me a text to let me know an expected time of arrival, and most importantly every day John showed up with a smile and positive demeanor. When my twin daughters got home from school every day John would say hello and have a quick talk with them. Now theyâ re asking when John is coming back! I am impressed with the quality of work, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that John put into this project. One example: every morning John would place down carpet protection and wood protection for the areas he would be walking that day. After the project was completed, John checked in to make sure everything was good. He also had an idea on how the fan could be even more quiet so he actually came back and made the adjustment (and it is more quiet). Best of all, he stuck to the original quote and within the time we had planned. I obviously highly recommend John and his team for any project you have!

As we were holding off to replace of our boiler for the Spring of 2016, the tank for the water to the boiler busted in Dec, John came with a temporary one. Litchfield County Mechanical did a fantastic jobs replacing our central air system. After getting several quotes we decided to go with John even though he could not do the job immediately. It as worth the wait! He was far more reasonable then the other local (Fairfield County) companies and actually did the job himself unlike the local companies that send salesman then random guys show up in your house. John replaced our old oil furnace with a new propane furnace. The work he did was great and done very quickly. He took the time to thoroughly go over and explain everything and you can tell he really cares and takes pride in the work he does. I would highly recommend him.

John did a complete furnace replacement including our antiquated zone valves that would not work with any modern programmable thermostat. The work was meticulous and we are beyond impressed with it. He included ball valves at service points and created a completely serviceable setup that is frankly quite amazing. The previous unit was clearly done 'on the cheap' and only after seeing how well a furnace can be setup do we realize how poorly the previous one was. I cannot recommend him enough.

I can't thank John enough-the job turned out to be much bigger and more time consuming than either of us could have imagined (due to how poorly the previous installers work was) but he was very patient and did a superlative job. Being a first time home owner, I am very pleased with the level of professionalism John has shown me. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. I can only hope that if I ever need a contractor of another trade, that they will meet his level of expertise.
