"I would love to check into this for you and see what happened. However, I am having a very hard time finding this file by name alone. If you could please provide the address of the home, I would be better able to check into this for you. Your help regarding this matter is greatly appreciated."
"We respectfully disagree. Three highly reputable companies, all of which have been in business for 20 plus years , and are active in ongoing training provided by our industry through the guild and chimney safety institute , all explained that the fireplace has a defect that put the fireplace safety in question. Looking at the pictures we took ; Far up into the smoke chamber , where the first flue tile is set , there is hollow block exposed that can allow hot flue gasses , embers , and creosote to leach behind the tiles into potentially unprotected areas of the chimney system. The code describing the way the smoke chamber should be built is : RIOOl.8 Smoke chamber. Smoke chamber walls shall be constructed of solid masonry units, hollow masonry units grouted solid, stone or concrete. Corbelling of masonry units shall not leave unit cores exposed to the inside of the smoke chamber. When a lining of firebrick at least 2 inches (51 mm) thick, or a lining of vitrified clay at least 5/g inch (16 mm) thick, is provided, the total minimum thickness of front, back and side walls shall be 6 inches (152 mm) of solid masonry, including the lining. Firebrick shall conform to ASTM C 27 or C 1261 and shall be laid with medium duty refractory mortar conforming to ASTM C 199. Where no lining is provided, the total minimum thickness of front, back and side walls shall be 8 inches (203 mm) of solid masonry. When the inside surface of the smoke chamber is formed by corbeled masonry, the inside surface shall be parged smooth. Solution - Fill the area with proper refractory masonry to the above specifications or bypass the area with a listed chimney liner."
"Management would like to be certain that our technician our technician followed procedure. However, we are having a hard time locating your file by any of the information that you have provided. Was this perhaps for a different address than is listed here? Any help you would be willing to give us to locate the proper file would be greatly appreciated."
"Sweeps can certainly be done from the bottom. However, with our technicians being certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America, we do perform a Level 1 general visual inspection of the chimney while we are cleaning. If we see any areas of concern, we do take digital pictures to show the home owner what we are seeing and help them understand any recommendations they may make. We have experienced that our prices are generally comparable to other companies in our area; a little higher than some and a little lower than others."
"We are happy to see that you were pleased with our work. We look forward to being your life long chimney company."
