We had a leak behind the sink in the master bathroom. The leak was traveling downstairs and into the ceiling and walls of bedroom below the bathroom. We did not know where the leak was coming from when we called the plumber, and assumed it was coming from within the walls in the downstairs bedroom. The plumber was very nice and professional, but started off by cutting a large hole in the downstairs bedroom to find the leak, and it obviously was not there. He then moved to the upstairs bathroom, found it and fixed it. The issue is, as a plumber he should have known to start upstairs in the bathroom to look for it. Now I need part of my ceiling replaced and it all could have been avoided.

I called Macca Plumbing because I have a leaking Kohler whirlpool tub. (I filled the tub up halfway before a big storm and it leaked overnight, causing a bit of water damage in the ceiling of my garage below.) I spoke to the receptionist and Frank Jr. on two separate occasions while scheduling the appointment and they understood that the tub was a whirlpool. When a plumber from Macca came to my house, I learned for the very first time that Macca does not work on whirlpool tubs, which they consider to be an "appliance" (like a dishwasher, which they also would not work on). Also the plumber told me that whirlpool tub jets leak all the time, particularly when a tub hasn't been used regularly and the seals dry out, and that a leaking jet was likely the problem (although not one that Macca could address) - something that Frank Jr. could have easily told me on the phone. After a few minutes of being at my house, the plumber (who to be fair seemed very nice) presented me with a bill for $89. I called Macca Plumbing to ask if they could waive the $89 fee given the misunderstanding and spoke to Bob Macca. Bob was rude and didn't want to hear me explain why I wasn't happy paying $89 when his receptionist and Frank Jr. never told me that they don't work on whirlpools. P.S. Macca charges a $59 fee for coming to your house and then $30 every quarter hour (i.e., $59 + $120/hour). Hence I was charged $89 for coming to my house for a leaking whirlpool tub and letting me know that Macca doesn't work on whirlpools.
Response from Macca Plumbing & Heating
"I am sorry you are not completely satisfied with our service. We do not repair the inner workings of a whirlpool tub but we do repair the surrounding pipe. it is very difficult to tell over the phone if it is the whirlpool tub or the surrounding pipes like the bath waste and overflow etc. I am not sure who you talked to from our office who was rude to you but i do know it was not me, I am sorry for that and will look into it. We always want to be sure everyone is completely satisfied with our service. With that said please call our office and speak to me and we will happily refund your money. Bob Macca"

They are phenomenal. I bought the toilet, and removed the old one. That was just the labor charge for an hour and a half of labor. They are reliable, they are quick, they’re thorough. No surprises, it's always a little more expensive than you'd like. I think their rates are right in line with other top firms in the area. I would use them again. They are my plumber, there's no doubt about it. For plumbing, I'd use them in a second.

They've done nothing but great work. They did a great job on all the work. I don't remember the cost, I wasn't all that upset about it I can tell you that. They've saved my butt many times. They are very responsive. The owner himself calls me. They are extremely punctual and professional. The work over the years has been very professional, responsive, great price and they have saved my butt more times than I can count. So I will take it. The workers have been great. They clean up quite well. The workers I have come in contact with have been fantastic. Several of the different plumbers have come in and done the jobs.

We have used this company for years.  Reliable and professional.   Very happy with the quality.  For the quality of their work, the price is very reasonable.

I don't have a reference for price because I have not had to hire a plumber in the past.  The staff was courteous and professional.  We actually had a power outage during the job and it was handled professionally.  I felt that the price seemed high, but again have no real point of reference.  I would definitely consider contacting them for an estimate in the future, and hiring them if the price was competitive.

Beginning to end Bob Macca and his crew were on top of things. Always kept us updated and there were no surprises.

This was not a small job (4-5 days) and I was highly impressed with their knowledge and customer service.

"we aware that the painting was not up to par. Because of that we have not charged her for that part of the job and we let her know that we will pay to have it repainted. We want to be sure every customer is completely satisified."

All extremely responsive and did an excellent job on a complex plumbing job to meet the needs of 3 bathrooms that were being completely gutted. I did all the work except the plumbing and Macca was happy to work with me.Ci

I initially found this business on Angie's List where they had several good reviews and I don't recall there being any bad reviews. This was the second time I have used their services and they did just as good of job as they did on the initial visit. I felt that the cost for their service was reasonable. They were very professional and thorough.

I discovered that a water heater had failed. It was at the end of the day, and the water heater belonged to one of my tenants. I called Macca at the end of the day, and they scheduled someone to come the following morning. The plumber, Russ, was on time, and called when he was on his way. There are three hot water heaters in a small corner of the basement, so I'm sure the removal and installation were not the easiest. Russ worked efficiently and even made an improvement in the gas line to the water heater that made more sense and left more clearance for this and future replacements. An additional staff member came to help move the old and new water heaters. They cleaned up thoroughly before leaving.
I've used this company for the 8 years I've had this house. Without exception, office staff is personable and considerate. They have always been mindful of any situation that is urgent and respond accordingly. I've always been very comfortable with the people who have come to the house. I don't have much to compare, but pricing has always seemed fair and work done efficiently. Every time I've had questions, they have been answered completely and in terms that I can understand. In addition to the water heater, they have been here for work on slow drains and several times for repair of furnaces.
I consider myself lucky that I "inherited" Macca Plumbing from the prior owner, and I'm very comfortable recommending them.

I purchased two low flow toilets from a big box store. We made an appointment for them to be installed as well as having a tub faucet repaired and a vanity sink drain repaired. After installing first toilet in first floor powder room I asked technician to put on shoe protectors since the rest of the house had wood floors which had just been refinished. Technician didn't want to put on shoe protectors since it whole be "too much trouble to take them off and put on again every time he went outside". At this point I told the technician he could leave and I would fine another plumber to finish the job. "Oh no, I'll do it, but it really is a pain" he replied--I was wearing shoe protectors and he was still giving me grief. Any way things progressed and after opening up the second toilet he discovered it was damaged. No time for me to go get a replacement so technician looked at tub and said faucet was very old and really couldn't be fixed, same with vanity sink.--he left and I immediately went to get a replacement toilet and then called Macca to have it installed. I was told two days later would be the earliest and I said fine. They never called to confirm or give me a time window and the same technician returned and installed toilet and left. Total time at my house for these two sessions was 2 hours. Within 24 hours I had a bill in the mail for three hours labor, wax rings (even though there were wax rings included with the toilet, 3 screws, bolts, flexible closet hose and shims. I questioned the bill via email and got a reply stating "The wax gaskets that came with the toilets were not thick enough for your application, that is why we used our own. We charge travel time to the job and that is why the hours came to 3. I also understand one of the toilets that we attempted to install was defective and that is why we had to make a return trip which of course will add to the travel time.
In the future I would suggest that you purchase faucets and fixtures through us. We will stand behind them and any wasted time returning defective product or making a return trip will not be charged."
I am not pleased with the service and I fully expect to be informed of any replacement material (the wax rings) at time of service as well as hours needed for travel. I feel gouged.
Response from Macca Plumbing & Heating
"I have corresponded with [member name removed]. it was never mentioned that our technician did not want to put on shoe protectors, I sincerely apologize for this. It is our policy to explain to first time customers our billing procedures at the time the service call is placed, again this was never mentioned to me durring our correspondence. We want all of our customers to be completely satisfied. I had no idea that this customer was not completely satisfied otherwise I would have made the offer to him to pay what he thinks is fair and not a penny more! It is rare that I have to make this offer but i do it happlily. This offer still stands if he would like to contact me. We have been in business 53 years and we do not want any of our customers to ever feel they are not treated fairly. Bob Macca Owner Macca Plumbing & Heating"
