HUNGERFORDS PUMP SVC

Like most business transactions in this industry: it went well until there was a problem with what they had installed. Then they disappeared and claimed no responsibility for the problems they had caused. To explain further, my family and I were moving in to our new home. We were excited as could be, even though we knew the house still needed some minor repairs/upgrading, including the water pressure. This is where Hungerfords came in. They had previously serviced the well for this home and for the previous family, so it made sense to call them back. So of course, because this was a new sale they responded immediately and showed up on time. They even went ahead and upsold me on a more powerful pump and a pressure tank to resolve the issue with the house?s water pressure. Before leaving they gave me some instructions to ensure sediment from the pipes did not end up coming into the house and clogging the pipes. I followed those instruction to a T and my family waited patiently for a few days more before using the bathrooms. Unfortunately, because the previous owners had not given the well it?s proper service there was a lot more sediment in the well pipes then they mentioned. And with a new/more powerful pump this sediment ended up finding its way into my home, thereby clogging the filter system several times and the plumbing. I realize it wasn?t Hungerford?s fault that there was a lot more sediment inside the pipes, but I find it hard to believe that this was the first time one of their customers had a similar problem ? I mean this is not a big town and we ALL use well water. But every time I called them to seek for help and/or direction they neither claimed responsibility or care to help me figure out what I needed to do; I even begged them to at least refer me to a good plumber and they even refused to do that. I escalated this to their manager Bill, and he had the same attitude. Instead they suggested that I would need a new filter system, which they would be happy to quote me out (price range of about $5,000 more?!?!?!). I was desperate and I did not know what to do. So, finally, after paying close to $1000 in plumbing service visits (they came almost weekly to unclog my pipes), and about 3-4 quotes to get a ?new? filter system (including that of Hungerfords), I found a filter expert who not only revived my old filter system but also set up a new mini-filter that caught any and all other sediment before coming into the house (which cost me maybe $250). Funny enough, after all was said and done, Bill from Hungerfords (manager who I had previously tried talking to before) called me back to find out if my problem had been resolved and/or if I was still in need of a new filter system. Nice try. But I will never use you guys again.
