When the cabinets were delivered, at least half were damaged and/or poorly constructed.  We returned the cabinets to Express Kitchens and waited 3 weeks for a new shipment.  The new shipment of cabinets arrived 3 weeks later and again were damaged and/or poorly constructed.  Express Kitchens gave us a hard time when we said we wanted our money back and told them to come and get the cabinets.  They came to my home and took pictures of the cabinets and documented our complaints.  Finally, after a few days they agreed to let us return the cabinets for a full refund.  The day they came to get the cabinets, I made sure they gave me a reimbursement check on the spot.  This company is very unprofessional and uncooperative.  Do not use them!!!!

The design process went well with the designer/salesman having extensive knowledge about what goes best where, how far things should be apart, how to maximize space, etc. After looking at several different showrooms for estimates of replacing the cabinets for our entire kitchen, we found that Express Kitchens was priced about the same as comparable big-box home supply centers, but we felt that we had more personable help/expertise at Express Kitchens, so we went with them. Their cabinets were 40-50% less than some other fancy kitchen showrooms in the area for what looked like very similar cabinets (solid wood doors and drawers, with plywood sides/boxes and shelves. Express kitchens can also get you all the bells and whistles with your cabinets - like easy close doors and drawers - which we absolutely love. After you pay for the cabinets, then they come out to measure themselves to make sure that everything will fit. The cabinets took about 3 weeks to make, and they arrived right on time. The follow-up with Express Kitchens has not been wonderful, and I get the feeling that once they sell the cabinets, the salespeople don't care too much about you. For example, they sent us a corner cabinet that was supposed to have a glass insert, but that was not supplied and I've called a few times to order one and they keep on telling me that they'll call me back, so I just went to my local hardware store and had a piece cut for me ($15). Also, they told me when I bought the cabinets that the garbage pull-out unit that I ordered for right next to the sink would be door mounted, but instead it's just a floor mounted unit and you have to open up the door completely first, and then slide out the garbage (not a huge deal, but since we use the garbage all the time, it's annoying that it's a 2-step process to get at the garbage). And since I specifically asked if the garbage unit was door mounted and they told me yes, it's annoying. Finally, the design left us exactly 32 inches wide for the fridge. Well, most fridges are 31 1/2 inches, leaving us a measly 1/4 inch on either side of the fridge. Since our house is quite old, the floor slopes a bit from one side of the fridge to the other, and our contractor leveled the cabinets, so our cabinets and fridge opening are level, but our fridge slopes to the side. Since there was only 1/4 inch on each side, the fridge doesn't come anywhere near fitting into the opening. So we had to rip out the fridge opening and re-assemble it so that the fridge would fit. Why would they leave you just 1/4 inch on either side of the fridge? In the end, the cabinets look great and are a great value for the price, and a few little snags are to be expected with a discount cabinet maker.
