Yes, I recommend this pro
I'm not someone given to writing reviews unless there's problems because good work is expected. In this case, I'm making an exception. Everything was outstanding - I couldn't be more pleased. The project started a bit late due to the town permit process but then moved more quickly than projected. We had some minor issues with window and screen supplier components but they handled it all without my involvement. The job is lovely.

I hired mr Spotlow to replace my front door including the storm door and new trim. His price was about $500 less that other bids....you get what you pay for!. He came to install the door which seemed to go well. When he went to reinstall the storm door he did not measure to make sure the frame was deep enough. He drilled the first hole that was too close to the edge that it cracked a 2" x 11/2" piece of the moulding off. He immediately blamed the vendor he bought the door from and said he sold him the wrong size door. He called the vendor and left an angry voice mail. He said he would come back and replace the storm door, in which case you would never see the missing piece, or he would repair the moulding and it would look like new. He was waiting for a call back from the vendor. I stupidly trusted him and paid the full balance in cash. A day or two later, I noticed that the threshold of the door was bouncy and squeezing when I stepped on it. I also noticed that he did not install new trim but used the old marred trim. The caulking was sloppy with gaps and it was all over the the brick and it was never smoothed out. When I called him back he was defensive and nasty and basically told me I didn't know what it was talking about. He said the door was solid resting on "cement" and that he used a specific type of caulking around the frame of the door. He said the threshold just needed to be supported with a higher kick plate. I knew I didn't want him back in my house. I had another, very reputable contractor come. He had to remove the kick plate and take the threshold apart. There was a 1/2 inch gap between the door and the framing it should have been resting on. There was no caulking used at all. There was also a gap on top between the door and the j channel. I had to pay to have this all repaired. I had to replace the moulding, and redo the caulking myself. I will probably have to pay someone to install my storm door. I called mr Spotlow and gave him an opportunity to make this right. He was nasty, defensive, and insisted that the door has been installed perfectly. He tried to tell me that the threshold was resting on the concrete ( I think it should rest on the framing, not concrete) and that it "was a different kind of door than my old one and there was nothing wrong with it bouncing" . He insisted that he didnt finish the job and needed to come and add a taller kick plate. I am sure he will respond and say I wouldn't let him come and finish the job, but who would. Had he come back to look into my concerns, taken responsibility for his errors and maybe even apologize, I would have let him fix it. Instead he attempted to convince me that I didn't know what I was talking about. He was quick to blame everyone but himself. He was rushed sloppy and careless. Looking at his response to the only other review on AL he blamed the reviewer for ruining his reputation affecting his ability to make a living and feed his children. I would suggest that the the only one ruining his reputation and his ability to feed his kids is mr Spotlow himself. If he did quality work without cutting corners and had an ounce of customer service skill, his reputation would be much different. Shame on me for not doing a better job of getting references and checking Angie's list before I hired him. I took a recommendation from a friend who had no personal experience with mr spotlow.

Mr. Richard Spotlow, manager and owner of Heritage Home Improvements LLC, accepted $800 and did no work on the project other than making a hole in the roof at beneath the skylight. He stated that he could not complete the job because he did not know how to work with the type of roofing material. He did no more than one hour work, left a hole in the roof, left the new skylight unprotected, outside the box, on the roof. He also left the flashing kit opened on the roof and the step flashing, consisting of 10 pieces, which I had purchased and paid him for, was missing.
Response from heritage home improvements llc
"[member name removed] hired our company to remove and replace a leaking skylight. We received a $800.00 deposit at which time we purchased new Velux skylight with flash kit and 2 bundles of shingles. Approx $650.00 worth of materials. We got on the roof and myself and a helper began to remove shingle around skylight and skylight. This did take time due to the amount of roof cement that has been caked on over years of futile attemps to solve leak. All in all about 3 hours of labor. At this this point we realized the roof deck has been completely compromised and needed to be replaced. This is something that is very common , should be expected , and was discussed. I called [member name removed] at work and told her the situation. She asked for us to give her a price on doing the whole roof as opposed to just the area around the skylight. It was late Friday afternoon , so we tarped the roof and she wanted the weekend to decide what to do. When I called Monday mornig she told me she had some other contractors out over the weekend and she didn't want me to do any more work.. No problem..She obviously got a CHEAPER price..But then she was demanding her $800.00 deposit back.. She was left the new skiylight and other materials to complete the job.. Between materials and 3 hours of our time She still owes our company $157.00.. To go to the extent of posting negative reviews that are absolute falsehood's is just not right. Especially when you are affecting our livelihood and how we feed our kids.. SHAME ON YOU...."
