I dropped of the equipment at the repair shop and I had to leave an $80 deposit !!!! RED FLAG!
I told the guy are you kidding me I'm leaving my equipment here, why would I have to leave a deposit you have my equipment. He said it was company policy and they wouldn't even look at it without the deposit, so I did leave the deposit. RED FLAG!
He then told me it would be 2 weeks before they could look at it. I said wow why so long, business must be good? He said that wasn't long at all it was worse before. RED FLAG!
A couple of weeks later I got a call that they put the cord on the Chainsaw and looked at the mower. They said it needed a new Carburetor and it would cost an additional $235 to fix. RED FLAG!
I said are you nuts I can buy a new mower for that price. But just curiously I asked when would it be ready if I did, they said in a couple
hours. RED FLAG!
When I got to the shop the Mower and Chainsaw were waiting for me. I asked why can?t you just clean the carburetor and we would be good to go. He said 2 reasons why they don?t do that.
- 1. They won?t guarantee anything they clean.
- 2. It would cost me more money for them to clean it than just replace the whole carburetor.
The Project: On the way home from picking up the mower my son (14 years old) asked me what are we going to do with the mower? I told him I was going to teach him how to fix it ourselves.
We stopped at the local hardware store and picked up a couple of cans of ?Carburetor Cleaner?.
Making a long story short?
Got home took the lawn mower apart with my boy and cleaned the the carburetor, float and injector with the cleaner and reassembled the mower. Total time was 30 minutes. Put fresh gas in the mower and it stated in 3 pulls.
My son did another mower we had laying around in 20 minutes and that one also started working.
Both mowers work perfectly now!
DO THE JOB YOURSELF, DON?T GET RIPPED OFF BY THESE PEOPLE !!!!!
Everything good you can say about them is why I go. A couple of weeks ago my wife bought me a new motorcycle there. I find the people there to be very customer friendly. Where most people the book will say that a job should take X number of hours to do regardless of how long it takes to do the job. They go by what the book says. Like, if we take our car in to get something done the book says it takes 4 hours to change an alternator and they do the alternator in 2 hours they still charge you for 4 hours because that's what the guidelines say it should take. At New England Cycle Works they are going putting saddle bags on my new motorcycle and you pay them from the time you start work to the time they stop work; you don't have any hidden costs other people have. They work with you and want your business and show that they want your business. When you go in there you don't go in prepared to do battle you are there to buy a motorcycle from people who want to sell you a motorcycle. I will use them again in the future. I have been dealing with them since 2006 and every experience I have had with them has been an A. Their prices are market prices but they are more than willing to negotiate with you to get a sale. They get back to you immediately if they can't take you call originally. If you are getting repairs they can't always tell you when it will be done because of their workload but they get the job done, generally based on your schedule. They are the only people I will go to for a motorcycle.
