Just a few months ago I chopped my long locks for a new spunky short do - tired of the same ole, even though everyone raved how "beautiful my long hair was". A good friend of mine, also a great hair stylist of 20+ years, did the job, and I LOVED it!!! Everyone loved it!! I was very specific in my requests, and she respected every single one of them. Now, two and a half months (and a cross-country move) later, I was forced to make a decision - trim to maintain the cute/spunky look, or let it grow out again. I really wanted to cut it! But....where to go?? I just moved here and know nothing about good places to go to eat, muchless get a high-quality hair cut! After seeing Google's user reviews, I went for it and made an appt. I was told Holly would be doing my hair.
I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment, and ended up waiting about 20-25 because the woman before me wasn't done yet. Wasn't thrilled about it, but primarilly becuase I had a tight schedule and knew it would delay what I had planned afterwards. Oh well though, "at least it wasn't longer!" I thought.
Holly came out and welcomed me, bringing me back to her chair. We started right in to what I'm looking for, and I made sure to list everything I wanted (it may be overwhelming, but .you gotta at least try, right??) She nodded along, and got everything I was saying, though seemed a little daunted by the amount of requests. I asked for a trim, ensuring to continue the plethora of layers I had, while keeping it simple - yet playful, fun, spunky, and not too high-maintenance. She noticed I had side-sweeping bangs, and I told her I liked that and wanted that option, but to keep 'options' for my bangs - trimming both sides and tapering them up so I can have center, left, or right sweeping.
I also wanted color; I already have dirty blonde hair, and had a simple at home box highlight done about a month ago. But between beginning growout, and entering spring/summer, I wanted lighter color. I told Holly I wanted bright layers of highlights, lots of them. I love multi-dimentional color! She didn't think I needed much, it wasn't that dark. But I wanted fresh, bright color. So wen went forward with a full foil.
The process from then on went just as it would at any other salon: putting in the foil, waiting for the color to lift, then shampooing and conditioning.
When cutting, I showed Holly a picture I was thinking for similar reference (Cheryl Burke from Dancing with the Stars). She went along with every request I had, even the last minute adjustments I had while she was cutting.
She did an absolutely fantastic job! It was better than I expected, the color especially was spot on!! I LOVE MY HAIRCUT!!! I will absolutely be going back to Holly for any and every hair cut/color!!
