Mike was very responsive and accommodating, something not often found today.
Michael's "equipment" dotting the sides of our backyard.
In short, it cost a fortune, and was badly done and left unfinished. We're very very disappointed.
"Dear Member, It was a pleasure working with you to resolve your roof leak issues. I think you are very nice people who have had other contractors perform work incorrectly at your home in the past and don’t know who you can trust. At Top Notch Carpentry & Remodeling we take great pride in performing proper work practices on all of the projects we are involved with as we have done with your project. As we literally completed the roofing and siding portion of your project making your home water tight on the eve of the first significant snow storm of the winter of 2015, it was determined that a few small details would need to be completed in the spring when weather permitted. Those details included painting the siding we replaced and replacing the temporary downspout we installed to divert water away from the house during the winter as to prevent ice dams. The downspout was originally sending water into the area where you had the leak in 2014. This was the reason we moved it temporarily until the gutter was replaced this spring. That was the plan. We have worked with you in a professional manor and delivered nothing but premium quality redesign and workmanship on your project. I dispute all of your claims and the claims of any other contractor who claims we have performed any work or design improperly. I believe you are being misinformed. The work on the roofs we have done was done correctly and did not leak this past winter as it did the previous winter before the repairs and redesign was done by us. I also dispute your claims that you were not made aware of the costs of the project. A budget for the project was proposed and agreed upon before commencement of the work. During the project it was discovered that areas other than the agreed upon work areas had leaks and damage as well. You were shown these areas and you asked us to fix these issues as well while we were there. The additional repairs were made after a ballpark budget assessment was proposed and agreed upon. All addition work performed was performed on an hourly and materials basis of which you owe a significant balance to date. When you called us with concerns about ice dams over the winter we came out to break ice dams and clear snow from your roof on two separate occasions during the winter of 2015. We were there for you then and are still there for you now. Upon reading this review I called you immediately to discuss the matter and let you know that there is a major misunderstanding here and that I would like to set up a meeting with you and the contractor claiming we have done improper work. When the call was disconnected I called back and got no answer. I left a message and have gotten no reply. I would like to resolve this matter in a cordial manner and move forward. If in fact there is any wrong doing on our part we fully stand behind our work and will make any necessary corrections. Please call me to discuss this. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Michael Pietrzak Top Notch Carpentry & Remodeling"
departed for a friend's home, who hearing they were here called to have them come by her home - also dealing with ice dam & the weight of heavy snow on a deck, etc.
Michael asked if I would please write a review on angle's list, with no request for a certain grade. I wish I could put this review into
every category they do work in?.unfortunately, I do not find a way to do that.
Mike was able to rearrange his schedule and get his crew on it right away. Not only did they get the work done on time, they did an excellent job and the room turned out great.
Mike is very professional and conscientious and kept us informed every step of the way. He made suggestions for ways to improve the process keeping our goals in mind the entire time.
I recommend Top Notch to anyone looking for excellent carpentry.
My experience from beginning to end can only be described as excellent! Mike responded back to my call the same day and was at my house the next to give me an estimate on the work to be done. What set Mike apart from the other people who came to give me estimates was his enthusiasm and knowledge. I really appreciated the time Mike spent walking around the house and explaining to me the processes involved. Having heard the horror stories our friends had experienced with other home improvement contractors (such as late starts, late completions, quitting in mid-job, coming in late and over-budget, poor quality of final work, etc.), I went into my first home improvement adventure very skeptical. After one day of work my mind was put to ease. Work began on time and wrapped up on time every day. Upon doing the initial walk through with Mike he knew I had a 10 month old baby boy and worked around his sleep schedule on the nursery side of the house. The work was done on schedule and definitely exceeded my expectations! If you came to my house the day after the job completed, you would never know construction had taken place. The bushes around my house were unharmed and there was not a piece of debris or nail I could find. I would definitely use Mike again for any future work and recommend him to anyone who wants an excellent job. Thanks again Mike!
Checked Angie's List, called Michael at Top Notch. He had crews out already, but offered to come himself within a few hours. He rounded up two employees, and the three of them cleared our roof and eaves over the course of three hours (it's a big roof). Problem solved, for now, though we'll certainly need to replace the drywall and do something about the roof issues come spring. And we'll hire Michael to do it. He's great, and his prices are extremely reasonable.
