Your home will be inspected & documented w/annotated phots provided to show what has made it in and how including but not limited to water in your basement, mice, bats, flying squirrels. In addition, This will help you understand what needs to be done to stop them from getting inside in the first place and then we can professionally seal it with non-chewable materials. We service lower Fairfield County, CT and parts of Westchester County, NY. Brian’s career in the pest control business began over 25 years ago. He spent three years in the southern United States learning from a world-renowned entomologist (among others) and helped start the Sentricon baiting program for termites with Dow Elanco. Brian advanced through the field to eventually run a major sales force and acquired a distinctive edge in the business. Through this experience, Brian realized he wanted to return to his home state of NY and create his own niche in the rodent control market. He developed a highly successful approach, rejecting the easy but environmentally unsound approach of poison – and instead relying on hard work, common sense, and the correct materials to prevent rodents from entering people’s homes in the first place. Fast forward a few years, and Brian began to realize there were additional niches in this area that needed to be more friendly towards the environment and the clients’ health. He therefore co-invented the Enviroboot® Dust Suppression System to help control the toxic silica dust that is produced when concrete is broken with a jackhammer. The result was a reduction in toxic dust greater than 97% according to the EPA and was awarded the 2006 US EPA CLEAN AIR EXCELLENCE AWARD. Brian M. We hired Thoroughspect to complete a rodent exclusion for our home. Prior to exclusion we used another typical pest control company that utilized poison. The prior approach was not effective and periodically led to the odor of dead rodents behind drywall. While the cost of exclusion initially seemed high relative to other methods, the value is off the charts since it is a one and done solution. Brian’s team spent a week completely sealing every inch of our home (all seams along foundation, siding joints, vents, etc) with high quality copper, galvanized steel and wood materials (no foam, which rodents will quickly penetrate). For the uninformed, exclusion may seem like a straightforward process, but it truly requires a professional with a critical eye for detail and a passion to completely seal every potential entry point. Within a week of exclusion all evidence of rodents completely disappeared. Our finished basement now smells fresh and clean and we finally have peace of mind that this issue is completely and finally put to bed. You owe it to yourself to speak with Brian and solve the problem.

Brian came, inspected the house, gave us a detailed description of all the problem areas with pictures, and followed up with a quote to seal. We were apprehensive about the quote because it was less detailed than we were used to. BUT, after a conversation with Brian, we determined he knew what he was doing and decided to proceed. It's taken me a while to review him because I wanted to see how the sealing turned out. We're going on 2 years without bats and mice! Our whole process took two separate weeks, because they determined we had nursing bats while they were sealing and bats can't be removed with babies (not what I wanted to hear, but Brian follows the rules). Brian has been responsive to questions long after completing the job with us. He's a wealth of knowledge and I highly recommend his service!

I first met Brian about 4 years ago after moving into our Westchester home. We hired him to do an inspection of the home. The name of the company fits him because the inspection was in fact very thorough. We ended up hiring Brian and his team to do a complete house seal that took about 10 days as there was evidence in the house that there had been a rodent problem. The work they did was very impressive and the team was extremely professional. Four years later we are still rodent free! Nonetheless, I still have Brian come and inspect my home occasionally because he is one of the most knowledgeable, thorough, honest people I have ever met. From finding issues that could cause harm to my family (like mold in a corner) to simply pointing out that screws are missing from an electrical panel, he doesn't miss a thing. I can't recommend Brian and his team enough - they are simply the best. The service they have provided me over that last few years is above and beyond and I haven't met a single home service provider that even comes close in quality of service. If you have any issue in your home (rodents or not), look no further and call Brian.

Exceptionally. Perfectly. Although not cheap - no better application of the parable, "You get what you paid for." If anything - I got more than I paid for!!! The Thoroughspect team worked 5 days, 9-5, as professionally as one could imagine to get the job done right. After which we had the comfort of knowing the work itself was warrantied against failures. This is a follow-up 3 years on from a previous review at time of service: Holmes on Holmes on Steroids. Simply put Thoroughspect accomplished what we, and numerous other experts and professional concerns had previously deemed impossible: keeping our home rodent free. We've been in this house 25 years. For the first 22, with monthly visits from the professionals, despite glue boards, steel wool, and spray foam, we'd always had incursions, droppings, etc... in our basement, attic and crawl spaces. Mice, bats and even squirrels on one occasion. This will now be the third year running that we've had none. ZERO. The industrial strength snap-traps Thoroughspect left behind, have served more as a proof of concept than anything else. None of them - scattered from attic to basement - have been tripped. We're frankly astonished, and of course, entirely 100% satisfied. Brian and the team are consummate professionals, one of the few we've encountered that not only deliver exactly (if not more) than promised, but do so with first-rate customer engagement, dependability, and service. I actually found Thoroughspect as a referral from my heating and plumbing provider. Thoroughspect is the same high level. They're the best of the best. I would give them absolutely all A's across the board. Brian is one of the most honest and insightful. I can't believe anyone else is even permitted to do home inspection. I honestly can't say enough positive things about Thoroughspect and Brian. We moved into a new house over the summer with major bat and mouse issues, and water in the basement. Of all the service providers we had (and there were a ton), Thoroughspect was by far the best value for the money and the most effective and reliable, and Brian is a pleasure to deal with. I don't typically ever write reviews, but the only reason I waited this long to write a review was because I wanted to make sure that the problems were solved even after a few months and into the winter. I can happily say we are 100% pest and water free! The bottom line is that other pest control companies' businesses rely on maintenance agreements, so they only make money if you continue to need maintenance. Brian's business is only successful if he actually solves the problem, and that is what he does. In addition to the services I paid for, he also provided a ton of great free advice about other things in my house, some of which were potential safety issues for my 2 young kids for which my wife and I were extremely appreciative. I only wish I had Brian as a home inspector - I would've saved a lot of money on the house!

His written report was a joke, not detailed at all and very short. Seemed as if he was trying to scare us into $15,000 of his work. He also wouldn't walk into our attic as he doesn't do that any longer since he has an issue with his legs. Half the information he gave us was wrong as we called company to address concerns he brought up. We went with another company to address our concerns for the cost of $3575. I definitely wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

With little exception our past experience has been with contractors that overpromise and under deliver. This is NOT the case with Thoroughspect. Just as the company name indicates, Brian the owner is very thorough and detailed. Both he and his team are professional and deliver high quality results. We initially contacted him to solve a rodent infestation. The $179.00 inspection was well worth the investment. In addition to providing a plan on how to approach the rodent issue, Brian pointed out several other issues with the home. At our request he also provided a well thought out proposal to solve a long term water leakage/drainage issue in the garage that also affected the first level of the home. All work was performed both in a timely manner and efficiently. The communication throughout the process was excellent. Since the rodent sealing was completed last October the house is mouse free and the garage is bone dry. Thank you Brian! We give a A++++ Rating without hesitation.

We do not use any poison and are exclusionists with a rare ability to modify a home from the exterior to stop these little critters from gaining access. Normally you inspect the house before you buy it and I did, but I found a couple of things that the inspector had missed, and Thoroughspect, as the name thorough inspection kind of implies, they market themselves as going above and beyond what a typical inspection would do, and I wanted to find out about stuff around my house. He did very well. There was only one thing that I didn't like. It was services and inspection, and I'm kind of trusting him to give me his backyard assessment of things, but he mentioned when he was here that he runs a couple of other businesses like mitigating damage to houses and things like that. At various points I felt like some of the things that he was noticing or what he tended to notice more or what he would call out are things that he was potentially in a position to use another one of his companies to renovate. He was very knowledgeable. He found a lot of different things that were great. Maybe he makes potential future customers aware that he does a lot of other businesses to remedy one of his concerns and his recommendations are going to be in line with trying to get you to use one of those services.

"Hello all, Interesting review as the client ordered a Faultfinders inspection ( I am not a home inspector) and when the faults were just so obvious he felt overwhelmed a bit being his first home I believe. While this is a positive review from an inspection about 6-12 months ago I do find it to be a bit off kilter as I advertise that I am a contractor who has the ability to find faults in and around homes that most people miss. I always tell people to have a home inspection and also have someone like me do a comprehensive inspection on some of the more specialized aspects such as rodents, bats, moisture, wood rot, gutters and always hire a separate electrical inspection. This is my 250th review on Angies and I have learned that a thorough response is always best so both sides can be heard with the good and the ok. Peace and I look forward to clients who wish to learn about their homes from someone who truly enjoys finding and teaching. We will be launching a home inspection business for NY and CT this spring so imagine how many more items I'll be able to show you as I work for the client."

Brian was highly responsive, extremely efficient, and led a skilled team to do outstanding work. He patiently described what he was doing on the initial inspection of the home and answered all my questions. We ran his findings by a relative who is an experienced contractor; he found the findings, conclusion, and plan to be quite sound and recommended we pursue the "sealing up" project. Brian's team was skilled and courteous and always ended the day with an immaculately clean and neat workspace. The project required that before the sealing up we do a massive cleanout of attic and basement. Brian brought in a team who did a fantastic job of cleaning out mountains of junk without leaving a trace in the living areas of the house. There has been to trace of mice or other critters since the project was completed. Even this week, months after the completion of the job, Brian promptly responded to emailed questions regarding some follow-up work being carried out by an electrician. I recommend Thoroughspect without any reservations.

Brian & his team are very knowledgeable, thorough, and courteous. Brian takes the time to really explain how mice and other animals are getting in, and the work they need to do. They sealed our house against mice (and any other critter that might want in). The team was very diligent at finding any possible entry point; and then sealing those points. During the inspection, no bats were detected; but between the inspection time and the work; some bats and birds moved into our chimney. They got them out, and gave a great recommendation for a company to install a chimney cap. They then inspected the cap work done to ensure that no bats/birds etc could re-enter. They also found a leak where a chimney goes through the roof, and fixed it. When the sealing was almost done, we caught several mice who no longer had a way OUT of the house. This is exactly as was planned; i.e. to seal the house, then trap those still inside. After the work was done, they set lots of mouse traps to be sure that no mice remained; and none do. We are very happy with Brian's customer service, work done, and communication. Highly recommend. The peace of mind that comes with living rodent free is wonderful thing!. They are not cheap, but well worth the expense. They are very busy, and Brian explained up-front the wait time before starting. They did start the job when they had estimated.

We purchased an inspection through an Angie's list coupon. Brian contacted us promptly and scheduled a date within a week of our inquiry. The site visit exceeded our expectations. Brian is very experienced and knowledgeable. While educating us about local bat behavior and methods of dealing with them, he identified numerous access points around our 60 year old house that would definitely need attention. He provided a proposal via email a week or so after the visit and was responsive to our questions. He also provided referrals to another vendor who could deal with mold remediation. We ultimately went with another contractor who provided a better price, but I'm sure Brian would have done a great job and may be best in class if your budget allows for such thorough and professional work.

Brian devised a plan to deal with the entirety of our problems. He started with eliminating the rat infestation from around the foundation, and then, set to work on removing the attic infestations and sealing the entire house against future intrusions. The house is over 5,000 square feet, and his team sealed every conceivable opening, including areas around our shed. It has been several weeks and we have not seen hide nor hair of any of the offending trespassers. Brian and his team were true professionals throughout the work process. They worked unobtrusively for 2 weeks, always cleaned up the worksite in the evening, and were meticulous in their work. I can't say enough good things about our experience. On top of all this, Brian is a genuinely caring and trustworthy individual. He looks for ways to go above and beyond...a rarity in our experience in Fairfield County CT. Thanks Brian!
