Peter Janis

Peter was relatively responsive but over the years became less and less responsive. I stopped using him because he was dishonest on several occasions. 1. He told us that he was showing us the house regularly - but when we examined the records, we found he was not. 2. He told us many realtors came to the open house - but in fact our neighbor was home at the time and told us that no one was there but Peter. 3. Another realtor contacted me saying that they had noticed the listing for our house had expired. I called Peter and he said "no, it hasn't expired, I renewed it before it expired." But I double checked with another realtor and it turns out Peter HAD let the listing expired. His answer was untruthful. 4. Peter decided that we should rent the house to a friend of his. He provided a credit report for this person. We allowed this person to move in and they turned out to be a complete disaster. When they went bad, Peter's promise of "don't worry, I will vouch for them and take care of any problem" suddenly evaporated. He was no help. Eventually this person stopped paying rent and had to be evicted! After the fact I went back and examined the credit report, and found out that Peter had falsified it! He had literally whited-out dates and other information to make this person's credit look better than it was. I would never use them again in the future due to his dishonest conduct. A realtor is a person who has fiduciary responsibility - they must be trustworthy. There are plenty of realtors in Greenwich who ARE trustworthy, so I cannot imagine why anyone would use one who isn't.
