Yes, I recommend this pro
$20,000
It turned out very poorly.  They are never here on time.  They come about 2-3 hours late.  They do not watch their sub-contractors, and then blames the sub-contractors for the problem.  They did not finish the job, and has not come back.  I think he got tired.  Being tired is not a good reason.  He told me it was too hot to clean up, even though clean up is in his contract.  It was a lousy experience.

Deck and Porch Service
$4,500
The owner Robert Matturro of LDC Renovations, Inc. was a personal friend from a net work group and I took him at face value and even recommended him to my customers for roofing and carpentry (he said I kept him working all winter 2009/2010) and ?to repay me? Robert offered to ?rebuild a set of concrete steps/deck with a Timber Tech deck/steps at just his cost? this price was for the removal of all concrete, putting in proper footings, all pressure treated wood sub frame and then Timber Tech compost decking and hand rails, his estimate was for $2800 (plus a couple of dump runs @ $100 each) and the job would take 3 days. His proposal ?includes all labor and materials?. By day 4 he started building the deck sub frame and Friday finished half the decking (I had to put wood on the top to get into my home safely (it is still there 1/27/11) as he was ?not coming back until the following Wednesday?. Well he did not have a CT contractors license, he made the new deck over one foot bigger projecting into my walk way, he did not dig proper footing, he removed vinyl siding and wanted to charge me to re install it, was using ?Home Cheapo? decking not Timber Tech as stated in his proposal (half the cost), none of his joints or seams line up (looks like Ray Charles did this work and his guy who is a ?Master Carpenter, making $45 hr?), his guy was here maybe 30 hours (of the 35 he had in his proposal) and he wanted to ?add extra 12 hours? (that would have meant that his guy was her was here for 47 total hours and they never started before 9am and finished each day before 3?, he never pulled a Stamford, CT building permit (so no inspections), did not have a proper CT State home improvement contract giving me 3 days to cancel?just to name a few issues I had, and then came the other shoe, the cost when every thing was done would be over $6000.00 and that is if he ?he didn?t have any other issues? all the while he was saying ?I am not charging you for my time just my guy and materials After all this I find out he is not a licensed contractor in NY or CT (claiming 28 years in business), so I sat down with him and offered to let him keep some of the extra money I paid him and finish the deck/steps or ?tell me to do my worst? he told me I ?was ludicrous if I thought he was giving me any of my money back and if I didn?t pay him in full he would not finish? I fired him on the spot, I was going to have him arrested by Stamford PD for working with out a license but decided to just let it go. So I took him to small claims court and showed the judge he did not have a contractors licensed, the Stamford, CT building department stated ?all framing must be removed, cement removed and footing exposed to 36? below the frost line? (so the deck had to be cut out and the cement he poured (44 bags of cement) would have to be jack hammered out and proper footings dug and inspected) bottom line every thing he did would have to be removed and thrown out and the judge agreed and I won the $4575.00 I paid him but Robert never paid me (I was not surprised), but I filed a complaint with CT consumer protection and they will pay me out of a ?guaranty fund? for home owners that have just this type of scab contractors that do shotty work, and then go after Robert (they can revoke his license, attach his bank accounts and possible jail time). I took this man at his word and had I left him finish I might not have know what a joke of a job he did but I too am in the trades and he makes it sound like he is doing you a favor I left court thinking he must really believe this BS, but it is just that BS and really bad work. I have found a very good contractor who will do the work in the spring It is ok for Angie?s list to contact me for any reason regarding this report for copies of original estimate, pictures and ?Judgment of Disposition? showing I won the case in small claims court he still did not pay.

On 4/4/11 he made a "motion to re open" in the court claiming "James sued the wrong company......" the judge told him "I remember this case, you did a horrible job on this man's deck and it has to be replaced" he and his partner almost had to be "removed and held in contempt if they did not leave", he still did not pay me, so I contacted CT Consumer Protection and they have paid me the full amount,  CT State will go after this company and they must repay CT State.
In May of 2011 I pulled the proper permit, hired a "good Contractor" who had to remove every thing and re build my back steps, and on 6/14/11 the city of Stamford issued the "Certificate of Approval", so it took a year and so much aggravation to finally get my steps right by a real contractor, who knows how to do his job and keep his word.
If you hire this company you might get lucky or you could be treated the way I was (and he was a personal & professional friend
