It looks great in the beginning, but now needs to be re-done, hence money and time were wasted in the beginning.
Description of Work: We contracted this company for carpentry work to fix what appeared to be a ceiling leak. This contractor (and owner) claimed to be qualified carpenter and plumber and came recommended by another website. We were new to the neighborhood and in a huge rush, so we opted to try this company. He opened the ceiling, found a leaking pipe and although he claimed to be a plumber, recommended another plumber to change the pipe. While changing the pipe, the subcontractor plumber recommended to re-install the drain pipe for the bathroom above (and the source of the leak), and although it was extra money, we opted to agree to pay for work so we can get this done right and not worry in the future. The work was done fairly fast - in two weeks of time - and the end result looked good to the naked eye. So at the time, we thought we got really lucky and this guy was great. 6 months later: 1) the drain does NOT work 2) there appears to be a LEAK in the ceiling in approximately the same place where the original work was done. I purchased a FLIR product (i7 model) to find the source of the problem. The instrument is showing that the ceiling is collecting water - hence the re-accurence of the leak. I paid cash, so I cannot take this firm to court on this project, but I'm warning you not to make the same mistake and recommend that you do NOT hire this company for any carpentry or plumbing work.

In April 2012, we contracted with DMF Remodeling to do a basement repair/remodel on my home in Westchester, NY. The contractor initiated labor to secure quick initial and second payment of 3 payments. After second payment he only randomly return to premises and then completely abandoned the job. After two months he returned, promised some work and told us he was overextended on multiple jobs with no resources for staff. We asked him to come then just once a week or even once every two weeks, just for a few hours, so we'd know it would get done. He gave us his word, saying he was a good man who had never done this to anyone before. He never came back. The money was given in good faith with time estimate of 1 month to complete the job. We have been lied to about the actions that would be taken. We received windows that were not what was contracted and we learned were installed incorrectly. DMF assured us that the correct windows were being ordered, but they have not come. We are living with open holes in our walls, water coming into our basement and hazardous conditions including open electrical outlets and construction debris. After numerous broken promises, we attempted to contact contractor to communicate that if work was not initiated or attempts to reach were not returned we would file in court. We ultimately had to. Since our filing, he has changed the name of his company to DMFJR Remodeling LLC, compromising our chances for collecting on the settlement.
Description of Work: This contractor took 90% of payment for the job and then abandoned the project, leaving our home in dangerous shambles. After months of calling and attempts to reach, he came to our home, said he was overextended without the necessary staff for several jobs and asked us to work with him. We sympathetically agreed. He then disappeared with our money. After 5 months since we started, we have had to resort to court, in Connecticut .You can review pending case at CT court website, search DMF Remodeling and Doug Finocchio http://www.jud2.ct.gov/Small_Claims/sc_SearchParty.asp
