Merry Maids of Farmington, CT

I used Merry Maids service biweekly for the past 10 years or so and give Merry Maids my highest recommendation. They did a great job keeping my home sparkling clean, were extremely reliable and trustworthy, and follow a standard process where each visit consists of standard full cleaning plus additional focus on one room/area on a rotating basis. I was initially concerned about handing over a key to my home, but they have a process to control access to the keys and this never was an issue. The individual housekeepers are capable, reliable and consistent. The management is also very good, ensuring holiday makeups are scheduled, communicating when appointments will be missed due to illness and likewise communicating any specific instructions I've given back to the cleaners. They are friendly and helpful and always looking for feedback to improve. I have recently moved out of the area and will definitely try Merry Maids in my new location!

They did an excellent job on the windows. They cleaned all the windows, in and out and the screens. I have lots and lots of windows and I think the price was great but I didn't think it was overly pricey either and I thought it was fair priced for the amount of work they had to do. I also have them come and clean every other week. They do a really good job but they are expensive. They really cleaned the house and it's never been cleaned before and they were here for four hours. It is eight weeks and I signed for eight times and so it is sixteen weeks so every other week you have two people come in and they concentrate on one room and it is like keeping up every time they come. Every time they come they have another room that they thoroughly clean so it keeps the house looking great. I have had people clean but not like that and they do an okay job. They dust, vacuum and wash the tub. They really clean. They do baseboards, fans, under the beds and move furniture. They bring all their own equipments and cleaning supplies.

The quality of the work varied depending on the person doing the cleaning work. At the start, we had a consistent person who did a solid job. That person apparently left the company or was otherwise unavailable, and we got a series of different replacements, some of which clearly did not do the work properly--not just talking about a cob web here or there, but things the contract specifically called for simply not being done. After working with the organization a bit, we did manage to ensure that we got someone who consistently did good work. Much to the organization's credit, both the person we got on the phone when calling to complain, and the person managing the branch were extremely helpful and responsive. We did propose that the work not done constituted sufficient under-delivery of service that it warranted reasonable financial compensation, which worked out to a good place. As of this writing, I now want to have a few months of consistent service, but everything seems on track at this point.

They did not clean the stove very well, and they did an okay job.

It was not a bad job and the house smelled good but overall it didn't work for me. I am obsessive and I have high standards. I was at work when they came in and cleaned. My problem is that I come in and go directly to the top of the fridge and window sills.

The appt. was for noon. At 1:30pm I called and was told they'd be here by 2. They arrived at 2:45 and started cleaning at 3pm. There were 3 women. Shortly after they started, I left to run an errand and was gone for 30 minutes at the most. They were already loading up having finished the job. I did a quick inspection and noticed that the floor under one of the easy chairs on the second floor had not been vacuumed or cleaned. There was still one woman in the house so I showed her and she did a once-over (but let me know that she wasn't responsible for the 2nd floor). I asked the woman who appeared to be in charge if she wanted a check and she said no. When I returned to the house, after they'd left, I did a more thorough inspection and found that they had not cleaned the window sills in the living room nor had they vacuumed behind the piano. Our house was recently renovated so it's still producing a lot of dust... it's easy to tell what's been cleaned and what hasn't... a dead moth that was on one of the window sills was still there! I called to complain and the young lady who answered the phone seemed sympathetic and asked if I wanted someone to come and redo the job. I didn't think that would be fair of me since I had 20 people in over the weekend and what work they did do would have been undone. I asked what the charges were but she couldn't tell me. When I told her that I'd be reporting to Angie's List, she spoke to her manager who offered 25% off on the next cleaning. This was a one-time deal. There won't be another.

They did a good job with the cleaning. They did a lot of things that I didn't ask them to do, which was really nice. They did everything and more than they were supposed to do. I was happy with the job.

ALTHOUGH THERE WAS STILL A LOT OF DIRT UNDERNEATH THE CARPETING WHEN THEY WERE DONE, OVERALL WE WERE STILL SATISFIED WITH THEIR PERFORMANCE. THE DID NOT CHARGE US AN ARM and A LEG, and THEY WERE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE ANYTHING IN OUR HOME.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THESE LADIES. I COULD TELL RIGHT AWAY THEY WERE VERY EXPERIENCED. THEY WERE ALSO VERY ORGANIZED. THEY WERE A PLEASURE TO BE AROUND TOO. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEM.

MY HOUSE LOOKED BRAND NEW WHEN THEY WERE DONE WITH IT. THEY WANTED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT BEFORE THEY LEFT. I AM GLAD I CHOSE THEM, BECAUSE THEY WERE PERFECT FOR THE JOB.
