fThe most unspeakably low professionalism from an office staff that I have experienced in 22 years of relationships with veterinarians -- 16 years with our first vet, seven with our second, and one appointment with Southport Veterinary Center. Our beloved dog is an important member of our family for his role in supporting two family members who suffer from terrible diseases, Multiple Sclerosis and juvenile cancer. His unconditional love is exactly what a person with an incurable disease needs and our dog has an enormous capacity in this area. He brings joy to suffering in our family that few humans can. But you won't get love from the non-medical staff at this business: their arrogance borders on abuse when it comes to the owners of the pets they treat. It was quite shocking to me, enough that I later called and spoke to one of the physicians about an incident I experienced during my first and only visit. As a result of that conversation I later became aware that the office staff member with whom I had interacted had fabricated a story of the incident (presumably to save her job). I don't doubt that the doctors at SVC care deeply about the animals they treat. But the non-medical staff there cares little about the human owners who love and care for these pets. If you choose to take your critters to Southport Veterinary Center be extra careful in your interactions with the front office staff or you may receive what I can safely say was the most inexplicably unprofessional treatment I have ever experienced at a medical facility, human or animal. We have always loved our veterinarians, had very close relationships with them through a mutual love and caring of our pets whom they coaxed to good health and, when the time came, helped us to put them down. Office staff were equally kind, caring, and professional. I can't get over how a business in this niche can survive with staff members who are abusive to customers and resort to deceit to cover up their indiscretions. In the end the medical staff is only as good as their office staff in terms of quality of care. It is sad that an otherwise top-notch medical staff lets this kind of behavior sully the reputation of their business in the community. We will begin searching immediately for a better vet to care for our beloved pet and partner with his loving owners.

I first brought my cat to this vet when she was a kitten. I went several times in the first year for different shots and to have the cat spayed. These visits were on the expensive side, but the vet was great and everyone in the office was very nice and professional. After we got our second cat, I brought both cats in for an annual check-up. The bill for both cats was over $600.
I have had cats for a long time and have never paid anything close to that for an annual check-up. The high cost was due to both cats having blood tests, which is not usually included in a check-up for two perfectly healthy cats. Considering the high cost of this procedure, I would expect the vet to disclose the cost before the tests were done.
Cost aside, the vet is very caring and thorough. If you don't mind paying a little more for veterinary care, I would recommend them, but there are plenty of other vets in the area that offer wonderful care without the high cost.

I've used them for the past 20 years for various dogs. I buy my dog food from them so I'm there frequently. I am very pleased with their services, except they are on the expensive side. I will continue to use them in the future.

This vet came so highly recommended to me and I now see why. I have only been there once to date but this doctor named Patrician Hart knows her stuff. She gave me dietary advice for my overweight ten year old cat. She is experienced with all animals and I just found her to be so informative.

IT WAS GOOD. HE LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD US WHAT WE COULD AND COULD NOT DO. WE GOT ANSWERS FROM HIM FOR WHAT WE NEEDED TO DO.
