Joseph Okarmus Builders

Joe Okarmus was hired to replace rotted wood on my deck and screened porch and put up new screening and wood trim. Work was performed while I was not at home. After paying him, I noticed that a couple of the boards around my screened porch were not cut correctly (it was a couple of months later at a certain time of day when light was coming through huge caps in the wood where it was cut incorrectly). He clearly knew he mis-cut the wood, but continued to install it anyway. Also, the wood trim on the outside of the screened porch had warped and was pulling away. I contacted Joe and he came by to look. He said he would take care of it. Well, months went by and I never heard from him. I filed a complaint with the BBB and he made a half hearted response that he would fix (not replace) the miscut wood. That was not satisfactory. Needless to say, he does not honor the guarantee that he claims to provide in his newspaper ads. If you don't watch him carefully, he'll get away with less than perfect workmanship.
