Real Estate Service
Just .....NUTS. Honestly , I have bought and sold real estate a couple of times already , and always at a profit I might add , so I was not a virgin when I bought this place in 2007. And I feel a decent amount of guilt that I did not write this review THEN because the Lord only knows how many people have had the same UNNECESSARILY , INAPPROPRIATELY unpleasant experience with so-called Real Estate agent Mary Ann Salvatore since then...maybe worse than mine even ; since after all she was not MY agent . My agent brought me her listing and though the almost three-hundred yr old farmhouse had great bones it had been horribly neglected...the only reason I even LOOKED at it was because it was the closest to my parents house  , and I did not uproot my life in NYC and move up to Niantic to take care of my folks to NOT be near them , after all .  It looked like h*** and I said so . I observed that it would take a fortune to restore it properly ....and that's not even taking into account the state of the ( very large ) property it was sitting on ! I mentioned that too. I saw it twice before my Pop talked me into buying it in spite of the expense involved in restoring it by offering his help in doing so....and as I said it was the house closest to my parents' house by FAR . About two thirds of the way through The My Dad Talked Me Into This Process MY agent came to me all uncomfortable and awkward and begging me to give my word I would not mention to her what he was about to say to me ....and proceeded to tell me this...this HARPY w/ a Real Estate license had told him - yup , TOLD him , a colleague and a grown man , that he had to , all the while preserving superspy-like secrecy ( have NO idea how she expected him to accomplish that ...hypnosis maybe ? ) TELL ME to stop saying ANYTHING and I quote " bad " about the HOUSE!!!   NOT KIDDING .  This astonishingly unprofessional behavior/command was on top of a distinctly unpleasant demeanor every time my agent and I had viewed the house  So , this  looked to me as it must look to anyone : this woman was was inappropriately ego-invested in her job , perhaps even in this case PERSONALLY involved , to the point of coming by her ridiculously hostile behavior within an EYELASH of losing the not only the only credible buyer ( and an all-cash buyer at that !! ) this listing had ever had in the years it had been on the market , but the only potential buyer of any KIND EVER for this listing !!  It bears repeating why I did my level best to ignore this absurdly hostile and frankly insane behavior...this house was a three minute drive away from my parents' house , and it was their needs that I moved to town to see met , it was their care that was paramount for me . Even after the price was negotiated ( downwards thank you very much, and didn't THAT chap this kook's hide ) and the DEPOSIT HANDED OVER she ...wait for it ......REFUSED MY CONTRACTORS ACCESS . Not kidding. Refused it until she could no longer legally do so because the sale was final and the house was MINE . UNBELIEVABLE . Honestly , there are days when ( much though I love this house ) I wish I had , when she refused my guys the access I had a perfect right to expect ; simply pulled out. And told the seller why.  My heart goes out to anyone who had had any dealings with her , it truly does . If anyone comes across this creature I would urge them to RUN AWAY. There are a jillion Real Estate agents in the area , and probably half a jillion GOOD ones , you do NOT need to tangle with her .
