This problem deals with Essex Mailmart taking my money and a 20 percent service fee for sending my FedEx package. On December 11 2009, I used them to send a FedEx package. They charged me a handling fee of about 20 percent in addition to FedEx charges which I paid on the spot. However, they neglected to mention to FedEx that I had paid Essex Mailmart! In January 2010, I received notice of an unpaid bill from FedEx, and then very quickly on February 2, 2010 collection agency notices! I contacted Essex Mailmart on February 23, 2010 who at first said it was not their problem. The woman answering the phone called me a flaming "expletive". Thankfully, we had the receipts. Finally, Essex Mailmart called FedEx, but the collection agency remained my problem. FedEx confirmed that Essex Mailmart had not reported the payment and I have spent over 8 hours talking to FedEx and to the collection agency to get this problem straightened out. I received faxes from FedEx stating that my account was cleared, but I have to contact the collection agency on my own. Essex Mailmart said they did not know a problem existed (obviously they keep no accounts of monies received and disbursement). I am still in doubt about the effects of this on my FICO score. Essex Mailmart seemed surprised that I am extremely upset by a collection agency calling me for a bill that I had never incurred, which was their fault. Please use them WITH CAUTION for shipping.
