All went well at the beginning, Vinnie was precise and gave the estimate immediately. He assured me that the fence would be done within a week. A start date and a finished by date were both listed on my contract. His exact words were "Even if we have to work on a Sunday your fence will be done by the finished date". That was the start of the lying and evasiveness that took place. I was assured at least 3 times that it would be finished "tomorrow". That is because those were the only three times he actually responded to my questioning. There were plenty of beautiful weather days where no one showed up to finish. Then the other days he would send some of his workers who also gave the party line of, "it will be finished tomorrow".
Three weeks after the finish date it was finally completed.
He offered a small discount since it took so long.
"As you can see the above work was completed on December 9th, the fence was finished and installed as soon as possible, there was a delay, I’m not denying that, but the delay was due to hard ground/harsh working conditions due to it being December. Any days that were workable, we worked and finished the job as soon as possible. Usually we close for the winter and reopen in spring but she needed her fence in ASAP so we made an exception and decided to install when the working conditions were right. We did as promised. Because of the delay due to working conditions, we still offered a discount, which was accepted with no further problems."
"Let me start by saying when we first finished this job Mrs. [Member Name Removed] was ecstatic about how great her fence looked and wrote us a glowing recommendation on here. During the following winter ice built up under one of her posts and raised it putting it about ¼ inch off level. She contacted us in January and told us of her issue. I’m not sure if it was nervousness or concern of us not returning but her above story is a little more creative then what was actually wrong. We waited for the ground to soften because it was the middle of one of our hardest winters. Once softened we went to her house, fixed the one post in less then 5 minutes and she was once again ecstatic with our work and said she was sorry and would go right back on Angie’s list and give us our glowing recommendation back. She must have forgotten or become too busy to change it. Over all, one post shifted ¼ inch, it was fixed in five minutes and the customer is once again more then happy with the job!"
Vinnie and his crew were great, and the fence looks great. Vinnie took the time to talk over and explain details during the quote process. Part of the fence line is sloped, and the fence section on that slope was well done.
There was a misunderstanding (mostly on my part) about the type of posts to be used, which wasn't realized until the materials were delivered. Vinnie re-ordered the correct material without additional charge. In short, a fair company that does quality work.
