"I'm sorry but your just angry because I told you that your driveway was to difficult to do. I came by to check on the job on January 4 after we got a foot of snow and I did correct a narrow path in the back . You did not even have to call to ask me to do that. I chose not to plow your driveway anymore after taking in to consideration how much extra shoveling that there is to do. And that the bushes make it very narrow between the driveway and house. A few years back we had to replace a dryer vent that was hit plowing your property because it is no narrow. When I went to your door you said why can't you do the job any longer you guys do such a great job. I gave you plenty of notice to find another service. In fact it has almost been a month and it has not snowed since that day. You did send me a pic of the pieris that had about 10 leaves knocked off of it. No damage to the actual bush at all . Also December 30 was 2 inches of snow and it was going to stay cold outside after. We come out 2 inches or more. You know that. Not to mention that was not even an issue for you until I suggested we stop service after the January 4th foot of snow. I'm sorry but you are just looking for excuses because I was upfront and told you it would be best if we did not continue snow plow service."
"Thank you very much for the work and great review. Hope to work with you again soon. Thank you Jeff"
"Thank you [Member Name Removed] it was a pleasure to work with and continue to work with you guys. We love doing projects for people who take great interest in there property and are as appreciative as you and your family. See you this spring."
"Thank you For the opportunity Mr [Member Name Removed] it was a pleasure working with you as well. We hope to continue building and learning your landscapes unique style for years to come."
Back in August we set out to tame the wilderness and were fortunate to discover Stopa Landscaping of Fairfield, CT.
Jeff Stopa and his crew proved wonderful to work with from the very beginning. They returned calls within a few hours at most and were always available to discuss details. The crew was one of the hardest working groups of people I have ever seen. And they have reason to be proud of the work they do. The landscape designer, Jennifer Simko is truly an artist and created the perfect landscape to complement our stream.
Just this week Stopa was back doing work for our neighbors. We share a driveway as well as the brook and are proud of the space that encapsulates both properties. The work that Stopa did on my neighbor?s property is spectacular.
Thank you Jennifer and everyone at Stopa for giving us a parkland to come home to every day.
fyi - this review may appear twice as it is also posted under my husbands name

I then did the research I should have done prior to accepting. As a homeowner, I didn't know the difference between 1, 3 or 5 gallon plants/bushes. Post completion - I estimated the plant and bushes cost at $700 ($1000 retail, and 30% wholesale discount). And his labor cost somewhere in the $300 range based on # of workers and time spent. I estimated $300 in OH costs, leaving a $1300 profit. Had he put in the appropriately sized bushes, the entire project would have felt far more reasonable, and per drawing. I would have been happy, and he still would have had a sizable profit of $1000 or more on an exceedingly simplistic job.
Jeff is a nice guy, and I am sharing only so others can do their homework upfront and realize the amount of profit built into his estimates. And to know that the drawing may not accurately reflect the finished product.
"[Member name removed], I want to start off saying sorry if you were not happy with the finished product but by the 4 th time we designed your planting job I guess that's my fault for not realizing that you would not have been happy with anything. We did not charge for any of the design time by the way! We informed you before starting your project that you having us revise to save money would affect the size of what we planted but if you had a budget to stick to with time it would grow in. I had 4 workers at your home for 12 hours [Member name removed] can you please inform me what I should pay these people so that they can afford to live? I am fair with what I pay my workers and your analysis of labor costs is way off. I would also like to mention that we did remove several other bushes in the front and cut down and dug out a rather large cherry tree of which that labor cost was less and we did reflect that to you in our final price which was lower than what we estimated and you agreed to. As I told you in person [Member name removed] your cost analysis is off and incomplete for this project. And if cost analysis is somthing you do professionally I really would hope that you take moe time doing so because if not I believe that whoever else you run numbers for may have a serious financial problem on there hands."
"Thank you [member name removed] it is nice working with you as well."
One thing I liked was even though they don't do tree stump removal themselves, Jeff knew a guy who did it, and he had him come do it (and got the estimate first). It was nice because I didn't have to call the guy myself, set up another appointment, etc. - he just came while Jeff was there and did it. As a new homeowner, I'll take anything that reduces the amount of headache for me!
Jeff had to come back a few days later to remove some stuff and we didn't even need to be there for him. I came home from work and it was all gone and done, and the tree stumps were removed. I liked that everything was taken care of.
On top of the work itself, Jeff is a nice guy and you don't feel like he's rushing you or ripping you off like some landscapers. He is a fair guy and I will definitely do business with him again.
Our landscaper that replaced Stopa Landscaping did an amazing job and went above and beyond in every detail.
I would have responded sooner, but just saw this and had to write so that no one else gets dreadful service as we did...
"I have worked for this client for 2-3 years we were only contracted to cut the grass and put down mulch as requested by her. When she requested that 2 bushes be planted this past spring that was not a problem. The only problem was that she left the bushes locked in her garage and so we could not plant them. I recieved a nasty call from her that night asking why the bushes were not planted. I then asked her to leave them out and I would come plant them within a week and to water them as needed. It did go to ten days as I had a scheduling conflict ( I did contact her to let her know of the tardiness). I then got 2 nasty emails threatening that if I was not at her home to plant the bushes she would hire another company. She also asked that I transplant 2 other bushes which I did for free as a courtesy. At that time I told her that the bushes she wanted planted died because she did not water them and I did not think it was professional to plant dead bushes . She then complained about the condition of her lawn. She said she wanted someone to take care of her lawn and fertilize. I told her the dead areas in her lawn were caused by her dogs urinating. I also said it could be corrected but the dead areas would keep coming up as the dogs continued to urinate on the lawn. I suggested a program to care better for the lawn as well as the need for regular watering. I was waiting for her response to the suggested work when I recieved an email from her yesterday morning which said 'DO NOT mow the lawn for three weeks' and nothing else. I then emailed her back taking the opportunity to thank her for her business and also declining to do any further work for her. I declined to do further work for her because of her disrespectful attitude and comments toward me on the phone and in emails. I have no problem working with customers and listening to concerns."
They came out, listened to our ideas, returned with a set of drawings complete with color "artist's renderings" of what the job would look like when they were finished. Very impressive.
Also impressive was how they had a designer who worked with us and helped us feel like there was some style and thought to the process, not just plants dropped into the ground. She even helped me decide that the tree in my yard probably would have to be removed, even after I peppered her with questions about whether we could move it to the back yard, etc. She was patient with me, which I appreciated.
They came when they said they would, worked quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. One of the principals of the company was here to oversee the work. I have never had landscaping done before, so I would have no idea if they were priced well, but it seemed reasonable. They even seemed to completely understand when I chopped the job by a third deciding to use a friend of the family for the backyard rather than Stopa's Landscaping.
After a long summer, the yard still looks great and the different plants are blooming at the various different times, just as we asked them to design for us. We are the talk of the neighborhood, and I would recommend them to anyone who wanted great service from professionals.
They were quick, on time, professional and best of all the job went easy and they actually did it for less than the original quote! That is honesty you don't find often.
I highly recommend Stopa Landscaping based on my experience
"Thank You it was great working with you."
