Lou Procaccini has been our plumber since we moved to Westport in 1990. He is very experienced, having been in the plumbing and heating business in the Westport area for over 30 years. His son Mike, a master plumber works with Lou, especially on complex jobs like ours. This morning we woke up to find a water leak from a light socket in our kitchen ceiling which is directly above our daughter's bedroom. We had arrived home with our daughter from the airport at 1:00 A.M. and at that time there was no leak. When we woke up we found the leak. Complicating the diagnosis, we had a new roof put on a month ago, had refrigerator work done the day before (coil replacement) and the refrigerator was next to the leaking light socket and our daughter's bedroom had not been used in several months while she was away at college. Also, about eight years ago we had her bathroom wall taken down to find the source of a leak which was fixed and had not been a problem. We called Lou at 7:00 A.M. and he was at our house before noon. Lou and Mike immediately began running a series of leak checks, running the shower, toilet, and sink. He also checked to see where the water line was entering our refrigerator and eliminated the refrigerator as the source of the leak. Likewise with the roof. At this point we thought that we were faced with the prospect of a very disruptive, time consuming and expensive procedure to find the leak. Lou and Mike thought about the different possible causes of the leak and decided that it could be from a leak in the waste line that originated in our daughters bathroom. Using his knowledge of how waste lines run, Lou cut a small hole in our kitchen ceiling next to the leak, exposing the waste line and then we could see the source of the leak which was a faulty joint in the waste line. Lou and Mike cut out out the leaking joing and repaired the pipe with rubber couplings. The diagnosis and repair took only one hour. Lou and Mike saved us a lot of agony and expense. They took their time, didn't jump to conclusions and with Lou's many years of experience and Mike's excellent plumbing skills, they were able to fix a potentially very destructive problem before it did any damage to our house. Lou and Mike have done a lot of other work for us including replacing our boiler, yearly replacement of our antifreeze in our heating system. We trust Lou and Mike and that trust has been repaid time and agin in the form of quick response to our call for help, excellent service and a real concern on their part to do the best job possible. Lou and Mike always charge us a very fair price
