Joe is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He showed up punctually, is personable, and has done only termite control for 38 plus years. He took almost as long as a whole house inspector takes and was just looking for termite and carpenter ant problems/damage. The regular house inspection guy I hired for the second house was thorough in general, as he was supposed to be, but just kind of banged around arbitrarily with a huge screwdriver into exposed, easy to see beams in the basement. Joe went in the crawl space in one of those paper jumpsuits and searched thoroughly. He wrote out his report before leaving so I had a copy his findings immediately. His prices are competitive. He also inspected and treated the house I did buy for carpenter ants. I was nervous to commit to this house because of the ants but trusted his inspection and opinion that the house wasn't destroyed, unlike the previous house. He said I would not see another ant ever again after he treated the perimeter of the house with the chemicals. I have not seen a one.
When none of this worked, I found Crest Termite on Angie's List. I described the situation and Joe (the owner of Crest Termite) knew exactly what to do. I called him on a Saturday morning and he said he'd be over in about an hour. He was right on time and he quickly surveyed the situation, put on a special suit (like a bee keepers suit) and administered what he said was a powder form of poison. This took no more than 20 minutes. Joe said that the powder was the best type of poison to use, because the yellow jackets would step into it and would then bring it directly into the nest. He said that the actual nest we had was in the 1000's of yellow jackets and that the nest itself could be as far as 6 feet from the entry spot on the outside of our home.
Joe said that the entire nest should be dead within 48 hrs and that if it wasn't that I should call him. After 48 hrs the nest was practically dead (there were only about 10 yellow jackets still flying in and out of the nest), but I called Joe and he came by later that day (while I was at work) and he sprayed the nest a 2nd time, and he left a note stating the time he had come back for the 2nd round of poison. The next day the nest was completely dead and 2 months later there have been no more yellow jackets. There was no extra charge for Joe's second visit.
Crest Termite was very professional and reasonably priced. Also, Joe is an amateur magician - and once he removed his bee-suit, he entered our family with some terrific magic tricks!
treatment plan (because we have not decided whether to use a barrier or bait method), but if you suspect termites and need a good education about how to control them, I would highly recommend Cresa.
- They were pleasant to deal with and came right out for my concerns.
