I hired him for two termite/carpenter ant inspections in CT. I almost bought a house in CT with header boards that were like styrofoam they were so destroyed by termites as I mentioned above. I hired Joe first before paying for a house inspection; it's cheaper to find out if the house has bad termite damage - then proceed as a buyer and get a house inspection since termite damage is a total dealbreaker. It was both horrible and educational to accompany him on his inspection of the house and watch the steel prod sink into the wood header beams, that the whole house is resting on, like a knife into butter. Header boards are too costly to replace - better to move on and find another house. It was not easy to access these beam and he had to get behind really old insulation, get the flashlight in there, stand on a footstool, lean really far in to a cobwebby dark area, etc. I would have never found out with a regular home inspection that the header boards were totally destroyed. There are visual clues and signs of termites that he can spot, and he knows where to look and how to proceed through the whole house looking for damage.

Joe is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He showed up punctually, is personable, and has done only termite control for 38 plus years. He took almost as long as a whole house inspector takes and was just looking for termite and carpenter ant problems/damage. The regular house inspection guy I hired for the second house was thorough in general, as he was supposed to be, but just kind of banged around arbitrarily with a huge screwdriver into exposed, easy to see beams in the basement. Joe went in the crawl space in one of those paper jumpsuits and searched thoroughly. He wrote out his report before leaving so I had a copy his findings immediately. His prices are competitive. He also inspected and treated the house I did buy for carpenter ants. I was nervous to commit to this house because of the ants but trusted his inspection and opinion that the house wasn't destroyed, unlike the previous house. He said I would not see another ant ever again after he treated the perimeter of the house with the chemicals. I have not seen a one.

I tried to kill a large yellow jacket nest which was inside my house, but in an area that was inaccessible from inside the house. I must have emptied 3 or 4 aerosol cans of wasp poison into the area where the yellow jackets were entering my home (which was underneath the siding of my home); when this didn't work, I tried spraying gasoline there. This was a big mistake, since the smell doesn't go away quickly, it killed many plants near the house and it stank up the house for about 2 weeks.
When none of this worked, I found Crest Termite on Angie's List. I described the situation and Joe (the owner of Crest Termite) knew exactly what to do. I called him on a Saturday morning and he said he'd be over in about an hour. He was right on time and he quickly surveyed the situation, put on a special suit (like a bee keepers suit) and administered what he said was a powder form of poison. This took no more than 20 minutes. Joe said that the powder was the best type of poison to use, because the yellow jackets would step into it and would then bring it directly into the nest. He said that the actual nest we had was in the 1000's of yellow jackets and that the nest itself could be as far as 6 feet from the entry spot on the outside of our home.
Joe said that the entire nest should be dead within 48 hrs and that if it wasn't that I should call him. After 48 hrs the nest was practically dead (there were only about 10 yellow jackets still flying in and out of the nest), but I called Joe and he came by later that day (while I was at work) and he sprayed the nest a 2nd time, and he left a note stating the time he had come back for the 2nd round of poison. The next day the nest was completely dead and 2 months later there have been no more yellow jackets. There was no extra charge for Joe's second visit.
Crest Termite was very professional and reasonably priced. Also, Joe is an amateur magician - and once he removed his bee-suit, he entered our family with some terrific magic tricks!

Joe Giaimo, owner of Crest Termite Control came to our home for inspection of infestation of termites. Joe is a true professional and most likely one of a few experts in this field. He is extremely thorough in his inspection and highly educated in the field of termite control/extermination. Not because of price, but because of his professionalism and knowledge in this industry we signed on for Joe to perform the necessary work at our home. Joe and two employees arrived at our home as scheduled and spent the better part of the day performing the necessary work that was required at our home. This home was not an easy project. Joe and his employees did a thorough job. Termites are a scarey thought, to say the least. They can do heavy damage to your home. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation you want to call Crest Termite Control. Joe is a true professional and a great guy to have on your side. Thank You Joe. And please thank Gary and Toni also.

There were a considerable number of ground bee nests around my home. Swarming bees were all around the front porch. Crest Termite Control contacted me within one day. They came to inspect the area to be treated, gave me a price, and were back the same afternoon to do the job. The price was so much better than I had expected. The workmen were absolutely great to deal with. The best part is - the bees are gone. If the need should arise again, I will not hesitate to call them.

When we purchased our home, there was evidence of termites in the garage. Joe came out and did a full inspection--inside and out--of our home, basement and garage. While we paid for this service, we also had a couple of "free" inspections done for comparison--and the adage is true, "you get what you pay for." The free inspections were not nearly as thorough or informative as the one Joe did. Joe found evidence that our home inspector (and the free inspections) had overlooked, and made excellent recommendations. He explained very thoroughly how treatment would proceed, what evidence would remain (e.g., that they could attempt to go through the sides of our slate front steps, but depending on the fill material inside the steps, they may have to go through the top which would leave small circles after they fill the holes.) I felt very well-informed after his visit. He even gave us tips on landscaping, water control, and other changes we can make to help avoid termite problems. We have not yet decided on a
treatment plan (because we have not decided whether to use a barrier or bait method), but if you suspect termites and need a good education about how to control them, I would highly recommend Cresa.

He is great. Crest Termite explained the different types of termite damage. He made sure our house was well protected. We live in the woods so he sprayed the house and the foundation. He is very knowledgeable and good at explaining.
