The first part of the experience was positive. We worked on a design and were pleased with the final schematic. The owner was on site when the cabinets were delivered so he could check the order. He failed, however, to check the package containing the molding for the top of the cabinets. I was out of town when my carpenter installed the molding, which was bullnose molding instead of the crown that was ordered. I brought it to the attention of the owner and, except for ordering the correct material, he refused to honor my request for one of his installers to come by to install the new molding, which would have taken not even an hour. He had installers working in my area and surrounding towns frequently. I ended up having to pay $100 (flat rate fee) for a carpenter to come to my home and replace the molding. While the money was certainly an issue, what bothered me more was the owner's disinterest in making things right for us. He compared the situation to buying a gallon of paint and having the color mixed incorrectly- the store would never have the walls repainted but simply replace the paint. With the several thousand dollars we paid for the cabinets, I hardly see the comparison. And this was knowing that we had a major kitchen renovation coming up and would need to order cabinets. I just wish he had cared more about us as consumers.
