Matt and I reviewed the scope of work to be done and he assured me that it could be done on time with some flexibility. A loooooong story shortened, I'll summarize the issues here. Matt never pulled the building permit from the town. After he bailed on the job I was surprised to go to the town & find this out. Cost in dollars was $800.00. Matt provided an updated estimate of work after an enlarged foundation was found to be necessary. This was some $14,000.00 above the original!! I had already paid the difference in the foundation (an additional 8K) so he claimed that this 14K was the amount due for the deck (which was part of original contract) and having to pay for materials for a 12 X 8 wall which had to be removed and wasn't part of the original. Matt himself never lifted a hammer on the job. He was too busy renovating a home in Hartford that he was trying to 'flip'. He bailed on the job 2/3 done, and is, in my opinion, wholly dishonest, and totally untrustworthy.
