Thomas E McCabe Painting Contractor

I did not have any work performed by this contractor.  I was not comfortable with his aggressiveness in trying to get my business.  He met me at my house to look at the work to be done (which was fine and expected).  My recollection was his original estimate was $12,000 to paint the exterior of the house.  I told him I would need to review the estimate and get back to him.  2-3 days later he came back to the house in person (since he was in the area) and saw me outside and asked if I had made any decision about having him do the work.  I told him I still needed to think about it.  About 2 weeks later he called me and told me that he would be willing to give me a "discount" and would drop his price $2,000 to $10,000 for painting the exterior of the house.  I told him I was still not close to finalizing a decision.  He waited a week and called me for the last time offering me another "discount" of $2,000 and his price would now be $8,000 but that was as low as he could go.  I told him (again) that I was not prepared to make a decision at that time.  He did not call me after that and I did not call him again.
I can't say that I have any idea whether or not he would have done a good job.  I just was not comfortable with his manner or the fact that in a matter of a few weeks he dropped his price $4,000 (pretty dramatically to get my business).  It made me wonder why the estimate wasn't $8,000 in the first place instead of offering me multiple discounts...

Started very well.  Over a three-month period of time became less professional and did not complete the project. The contract deposit was made and balance was due on completion. However, requested/demanded more payments which were unfortunatly made.  Will be bringing Mr McCabe to Small Claims Court.
Update 12/21/12 Would have brought Mr McCabe to small claims if he could be located.
