G & S Service Inc

After reading good reviews for this shop I decided to get a quote for an engine replacement. The mechanic at Gand S provided me with a quote for a replacement with a Jasper re-manufactured engine (he only works with Jasper). I would have used him if I had not found another mechanic to do the work using a different engine company which was able to lower the cost.

My car is a 2005, although it only has 30,000 miles on it. I've never needed it serviced, beyond usual maintenance, but lately the engine was making funny noises. (Unfortunately they're hard to describe, either here or to the mechanic). I live within walking distance of Gand S service, and its name was also provided to me by a neighbor. So I called to schedule my car to be looked at and they were able to take it in the next day. So right from the start this was a positive experience. Brought my car in and they said to call about it mid-afternoon. I did so and the mechanic, Steve Sr., explained how he took it for a test drive several times but couldn't hear the noise(s) I was referring to. (They do tend to come and go.) But he checked all the fluids, belts, hoses, etc. and all was in order. Basically there was nothing for him to service. He ended up not even charging me, which was astounding, especially considering he spent his time trying to determine if there was anything wrong. So overall I'm very pleased. And my engine is now not making any noises, go figure...

Visited the shop in advance to get an estimate for a set of tires with the intention of purchasing if the price was right. Excellent price on the tires and the work was done well and on time. There was some question about the type of lug nuts on my wheels and Steve made sure they were correct and my truck was safe. I have since bought another set of tires from Gand S and had the same good experience. If you are used to the 'dealer experience', doing business at Gand S may be a shock because it's much less formal. But you can expect good work at an honest price and the staff is always willing to answer any questions or address any concerns you might have. This is a family run business that is well-established in town.

They are excellent. It's a family owned garage. We never have to call them, we just drive over. It's excellent, they get the service done on time, they are right there and talk to you about any problems and explain anything you might need to do. The price is okay. I use them everytime.
