Ed contacted us as soon as we put out a call for painters on another contractor website (not Angie's List). He literally called us within a minute and asked to come out to give us a quote. We had experienced some trouble getting people out to give us a price, being told that early October it too late in the season. But Ed was one of the three that actually came out. He wasn't the lowest bid, but he did talk at great length about what kind of paint he would use, the process for prep and his experience with painting aluminum siding. We also walked around the house and he pointed out the places that ought to patched or repaired. He was very detailed-oriented and communicated extremely well.
Ed and his brother, Dan, came out to power wash when they promised. They arrived early and spent all day on the job. Once the house had dried they came out with their father (also called Ed) and sprayed the house. Then they hand painted the trim (detailing some portions with the body color). The yellow doors were difficult and required several coats. On the last morning when they came the doors were stuck shut and when they managed to get them open we saw that part of the door-sealing trim (something added later on so that the doors seal tongue-and-groove) had ripped out. There wasn't really anything we could have done to avoid it apart from stripping the doors entirely (we would have replaced them, but they're as old and odd as the house itself and we can't afford custom-built doors). So Ed's father removed the that piece of trim and painted over it. It didn't quite cover so he left us with some extra paint so we could allow that spot to dry and cure before applying a new coat (it's a spot where the door rubs up against the door frame so we have to take it slow).
Even with the door, we felt that they took their time to do the job carefully and thoroughly. From what we could see they didn't cut corners and the job looks fantastic. They patched all the places we'd ask them to and they even wired a new porch light for us. They took care with our new plantings in front of the house and cleaned up after themselves entirely.
What's more they were courteous and even personable! They listened to what we had to say and asked us how we would like the job done when they weren't sure.
We couldn't have asked for better painters!
