This is probably the very best company we have ever worked with when renovating things in our home. We completely remodeled our master bathroom to make it user-friendly as we age. Took out a tub, put in a walk -in shower, new flooring, lights, countertop, etc. From start to finish, the entire Solimine team was knowledgeable, prompt, accurate, timely, honest and super fun to work with. The men on our job worked so hard, never taking breaks and showed up every day, from day one. I cannot recommend them highly enough. With this company, home renovation can really be a fun and relatively easy experience!

Solimine were a great find for me! They were excellent in walking me through my first significant home improvement, open about what expectations were, and really open to working with my wild thoughts to turn them into a beautiful reno. The work they did was quick, professional, and well-done! Every day, the on-site lead updated and consulted me on what would be happening that day and on some smaller details. I felt personally cared for by the company - which was a real relief! And in the end, the final project is a bathroom that is a delight rather than a nightmare!

In August of 2021, Anderson Renewal informed us that, before they could properly install our new sliding glass doors in our sunroom, we would require the help of a "major contractor" to resolve issues concerning our surrounding deck and wood rot due to moisture damage. Contractors were very busy at this time, many were not even returning phone calls, and we needed to get our windows installed before the change of seasons. John Solimine returned our call within 24 hours, arrived at our initial meeting on time, and gave a very accurate and honest assessment of the scope of the work that would need to get done. In short, the rot that we uncovered was just the tip of the iceberg and the damage was far more extensive. We discovered that deck footings in the original home design plan from decades earlier were missing. We needed a new deck, with proper cement footings and flashing where the deck met the exterior walls around the house. John was completely up front about the fact that his crews were involved in other projects, but that he did work with sub-contractors who might be available to help. His office would still handle all logistics and payment arrangements. From the moment we met John, our sense was that he was making every effort build a relationship with us. He was always on time, he was always very thorough with his explanations, and he and his staff were always in good communication with us throughout the duration of the project. The subcontractor Flavio and his crew were polite, professional, and hard-working. When they were able to set a completion date, they honored it. We had our beautiful new deck, our sunroom had new wood siding, and our windows and glass doors were installed before the cold weather came on. When John came by in person to accept the final balance, we could not have expressed more gratitude for the quality work. We recently painted the deck to match the paint on the upper deck that was untouched. Many thanks to Solimine Contracting. We recommend them highly and will call on them again for future projects.

I hired Solimine to build an addition sun-room and attached deck from a hand sketch of what I envisioned. They were able to create just about exactly what I was envisioning from the sketch. Work was very professional and all the crew were responsive to questions and comments as they arose. They were also willing to work with me on cost and payments allowing me to upgrade from the original sketch. I would definitely hire them again.

It was a pleasure to work with John and Rick. The products we picked out were perfect for the remodel. The bathroom came out very nice and is a great improvement to the dated 1980s original it replaced. Work performed went well. Minor punch list items were completed prior to final payment. The only issue we ran into was getting the city out for the permit inspection in a timely manner. Job has been substantially complete since November and city was just out for inspection in April. On-site inspection passed - final closeout will be official letter from city in the mail. (This is the reason for the 4.5/5.0 rating as I was lead to believe the permit process was on track in October during the work.) Trevor and Jaime did a great job on the project and were very professional and neat with the jobsite. Would highly recommend Solimine for your home improvement needs.

So I hired these guys several years ago to do a major storm repair. I'm selling my house and come to find out not ONE SINGLE PERMIT was pulled for the job and on top of that, someone at Solimine had the nerve to tell my realtor that we asked them NOT TO! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
Response from

"With all due respect to this gentleman's review and comment, we do not even have records of this job because it was at least 7 years ago. If permits were not pulled, we would have to assume it was because it was not needed. The gentleman is mistaken to what was said to his realtor. Unfortunately the Homeowner never called us himself, as we would have been more than happy to discuss it with him in more detail. We informed his realtor of how long ago work was done (she was under the impression it was a a couple years), and that if permits were not pulled the homeowner would have been aware of that.. We do not hide any information from homeowners when doing work for them at all. If our memory serves us correctly, this was also a project that went through the homeowners insurance; which when that happens, they require the proper guidelines to ensure work was done properly."

Our "two week" bathroom remodel was finally completed after eight weeks. As other reviews have stated, communications is one of the weaknesses of Solimine. Numerous time we were told that someone would be at the house to do work. We left the house unlocked, and no one showed up and without explanation. We did later found out why, Our sales rep told us, "Sorry this is taking longer than we expected. We have a major kitchen project that we have to get completed by Thanksgiving because they are having a large family get together". There were times when management did talk to us about what was going to be done, and then the workers showed up knowing nothing about it. Example, one morning the sales rep called to have a worker stop by to install bathroom accessories that afternoon. We told him not to worry about it, we didn't know if we wanted them or not. That afternoon, the worker showed up anyway while someone was taking a nap in the bedroom. We also had instances where we pointed out potential problems with what they were constructing and were told "we do this all the time, we know what we are doing." One of the issues was the size of the bench they built in the shower. It hung over the curb for the shower door so there was no way for the sliding barn door to slide. We told them there was going to be problem, but they said it was correct. When they discovered it wasn't, their initial solution was a $4,000 custom shower door! We suggested a fix and they did do the work at no charge. Final price installed was $1,000. One other example was, while painting, we asked them why they weren't taking down the old light fixture since the new one was a smaller size and was going higher on the wall. Again, the response was "we know what we are doing". The new light was installed. During "final walk" through, we found a minor problem with the mirror they built for us. When the mirror was removed, there was the unpainted section where the old light was, with a hole in the wall. We would have been stuck with an unpainted , hole in the wall section of the bathroom if the problem with mirror hadn't occurred. This is one last example of communications and priorities. Several times, when no one showed up as scheduled throughout the project, we were told the delay was caused by "the painters can't paint because we have to wait two or three days for the drywall compound to dry." Magically, when the sales rep. started pushing to get their final check, and found the "hole in the wall" when they thought they were done, time requirements changed. The painter showed up (three days after promised), patched the large hole with drywall compound, painted the hole and old light section, and was gone in an hour. One suggestion is have firm prices, either purchasing yourself or going through Solimine for everything you need before signing the contract. We found their allowances in the contract were way too low, especially when you add the 20% mark up on anything you purchase
Response from

"First and foremost, we are sorry the homeowner has such ill feelings towards our company. We know this project did not turn out as we both planned, but we believe we did everything in our power to make the homeowner happy. We agree that the 2 week project turned into 8. We were on track to be completed in 3 weeks when there became a price issue with the cost of the shower door; which was an allowance item, and not associated with a problem we caused. Solimine Contracting set aside a $2,000 allowance for the shower door in our contract. The homeowner is also correct, that we do add a 20% charge to all allowance items. This charge is to cover the shopping times spent with the homeowner to pick out materials, as well as ordering and delivery, and the responsibility and functionality of the item. We do give homeowners an option to buy materials direct if they choose to agree to all of the above. Once work began, it was decided that the shower was going to be slightly larger than originally discussed. We'd like to include that the homeowner wanted a custom barn style door. We received the quote form the first company, which came over budget and the homeowner was not happy , nor accepting of that option. From 10/13 to 10/25, there was constant communication including a 2nd quote we provided by another company for the shower door, which put a halt to the project. The 2nd quote was not accepted either. There was also a 3 day period where we were trying to contact them to resolve the issue, to which we did not hear back from them. We finally came up with a solution, and the homeowner ordered a shower door on their own around 10/25 which took about a week to come in, and we provided additional work to the bench seat at no charge to properly install the decided shower door. We apologize that we did not realize that the original door was going to be far over the allowance amount, and that the homeowner thought we were originally installing the system ourselves. We did explain to them immediately that we normally refer to a glass company to fabricate and install the shower door portion of the project, but if that was not communicated properly, we do apologize. In the end, Solimine Contracting did install it. So as you can see, between the time period of coming up with a solution to the problem, and installing the shower door, it was almost a 5 week period. When we installed the shower door, we also completed all of our punch list items so the project would be complete. We reiterated to them several times that we were doing everything in our power to make the homeowner happy, and give them their bathroom back. Once we were complete, it took almost a week for the homeowner to meet with us (which is added into his calculation in his timeline review). We met with the homeowner on November 11th, thinking the project was complete, to which the homeowner provided us with an additional punch list they wanted complete. This took us by surprise, becaus"

Make sure to read addendum.....these issues were resolved........Do not make last payment until all work don !!!!! $1300.00 worth of damage to my Brazilian cherry floors, during full kitchen reno and some tiling in living room. Contractor said he would fix.I have two piles of wood in my office that are the wrong size. Damaged wood held together by blue tape for over 2 months now during the holidays. Contractor no longer returns calls nor texts. I also came home to a kitchen blind that was ruined and would no longer open and they never even mentioned it, probably hoping I would not notice it. Meanwhile I spent over $30,000 on kitchen reno and have another $40,000 to $60,000 I wanted to do with them. I was also left with an unfinished wood ceiling border that separates kitchen space from living room. Looks awful. I have been waiting months for the repair. I will admit, i gave contractor too much time to fix due to the relationship i thought existed but that left me with damaged floors and an unfinished ceiling border and just like my friends and relatives, a bad story to tell. Addendum 2/21/17 Company made themselves available to me and corrected the wrongs this weekend. The repaired floor looks amazing. A combination of lighter colored wood with the original darker color wood looks wonderful. The workers are top notch and you do get a nice value for your buck. I have changed my ratings based on the work that was done overall. My original rating was due to my anger but the Solomines quickly resolved the issues once contact was made. I would recommend to friends and neighbors .
Response from

"Thank you for your concerns, and although no company likes a bad review, it is certainly something we can learn from and perhaps take a better avenue to approach the next time something happens. We have fully acknowledged that there was damage to their floors, and have ordered wood to properly fix the problem. We had trouble ordering the flooring , and should have better communicated that to them; however it is on order and we are waiting for it to come in. The office has received no calls or emails from the Homeowner, however is they contacted a person directly, we are certainly looking into that and assuring that possibly ignoring a customer will not happen again. We were not aware, however of any other issues, although when in contact with the Homeowner we will discuss any other concerns with them as well. As far as the original flooring contractors accusations of us yelling at him; that is a completely false statement,; and again, something we are just hearing about. We did, in fact ask him for a quote, to which we questioned him why it was as high as it was. We too, felt that we had a good relationship with the Homeowners, and our lack of communication by no means, has any indication of our company not fixing their current problem."

Terrible experience for what was noted as a simple bath remodel - lots of delays, incorrect measurements, cheap materials, drop cloths not used past day one, and just too many incidents to list them all here really. Make sure you have every basic item promised written in the contract or you will be purchasing them on your own. In summary, disappointing on all levels which is a shame since I had hoped to use them for future remodeling projects.
Response from

"Thank you for your concerns. We always welcome feedback, whether it be good or bad. We would like to take a moment to clarify a few of the homeowner's concerns. The delays in the project were only due to certain materials that were ordered, that did not arrive on time. There was, in fact, something that was ordered that came in damaged, that we had to reorder as well. This was something beyond our control. As far as quality of materials were concerned, Solimine Contracting did not select any materials for the bathroom remodel. The homeowner chose all the materials based upon the homeowners budget. With that being said, we do understand that every project is not going to go as smooth as we'd like it to be. We do, with every renovation though, make sure that we go through any touch ups and/ or concerns with every homeowner, before receiving a final payment upon completion of the job. This project was no different than any other. We understand that in the homeowner's eyes, we failed them as their contractor, however, being a construction company, serving clients for over 20 years, we do everything in our power to make every client happy in the end. Our goal is build relationships with every client we service. This homeowner is exactly the same. If there is anything we can do to win your trust back in your future renovation projects, we would be more than happy to speak to you. However, we do understand that you have many options when choosing a contractor, and we wish you luck on any future home improvement projects you may have."
