About us
For the past three decades, Kevin McClellan has been a significant fixture in the business of appraising American, English, and continental furniture, fine and decorative arts of the 18th & 19th century, as well as general residential contents, here in southern Fairfield county and beyond. While attending Suny purchase in the late seventies, he was recruited by Fairfield county estate liquidators. At the time the largest full service company of its kind in Connecticut. After six years with F.C.E.L. Serving as everything from laborer, runner, auctioneer and finally assistant appraiser and gallery manager, he moved on to open Kevin B. McClellan appraiser and auctioneer in 1983. He established himself as a reliable source of verifiable valuation services for bank trust departments, estate & divorce attorneys, local historical societies and individuals. Designated by the American society of appraisers as a senior appraiser of personal property in 1988, he has also testified as an expert witness in court cases and completed assignments for the federal deposit insurance corporation. His work has been accepted by major insurance companies, the probate courts here in Connecticut, and the internal revenue service. He has worked on some of the oldest family estates here in Fairfield County, many dating back to the early 1700. Several years back, he taught a class in antique identification at the adult education dept. of Fairfield University. After a temporary self-imposed retirement that lasted more than a decade, he re-entered the appraisal field thru assignments at various group shops and galleries that sprung up in Stamford Connecticut. Most notably, his associations with hidden galleries, genesis antiques, and Greenwich living design center, three major forces in the antique and design field. He is currently re-certifying with the ASA.

Per Kevin's request I provided him with photos and as much detailed information as possible. He gave me a very thoughtful and helpful response. Now I'm pursuing one of his suggestions of working with a consignment shop in Greenwich and I feel confident that I know what a reasonable sale price should be.
Kevin was very professional and I would highly recommend him.Licensing
