I needed help quickly, and they were fantastic in that regard. The ejector pump serving a lower bathroom stopped functioning, so we had to close it off and the smell was getting bad. After several calls to local plumbers, Putnam was very impressive out of the gate. Responsive, polite, and able to help. That said, I wasn't thrilled with how the pricing seemed to change throughout the process. The hourly rate went up $40 over the course of the initial conversation (though they adjusted back down when I brought this to light), but then the final bill included an extra hour of work. I called to ask about that, guessing it was for transportation time? I didn't really get an answer for that so I asked for the invoice, which was promised but never delivered. So, in the end, I feel like they threw an extra hour on there for good measure, which I probably would have been happy to accommodate if it was handled differently. Given the fact that I had to assist on the project, provide some of my own tools and shopvac I was a little bothered to be charged extra without explanation. Regarding the work: the plumber found and removed the item clogging the pump and suggested "see how it goes". 2 weeks later the pump died, so another company came out to replace it. I'll let the reader decide how to interpret that... On the one hand, if the first plumber came out and led with "you need a new pump", I would have been pretty cynical. On the other hand, if he had recommended what the second plumber pointed out, "your pump is 20 years old and it spent 3 days trying to eject a towel: do yourself a favor and give this good soldier a proper burial," it would have made perfect sense.

Due to a major storm in our area, plumbers were overrun with work but the plumber from Putnam Plumbing was able to get here in 24 hours and were able to repair the hot water heater and our sump pumps perfectly. Every one was very friendly and helpful. I will be billed so I don't know the cost but they have always been fair with us. we have used them for over 20 years. I didn't need Angie's List to find them but I am glad to see them on the list for other people.

Excellent office response, but they bring two people for one person's work and in this case they did it poorly resulting in freezing damage to my plumbing. This was the second time.
