"please lets be honest (Removed member name), When I looked at your floors and told you I would be more than happy to fix them and even told you when I had the time to call you waited almost 2 to 3 months after that time to call, and numerous times was once by your wife and once by you .Although I have been very busy in the last few months and have been short on man power and have been working late and I know I have missed returning calls to a few clients and it is not a good excuse but its what happens sometimes ,however im still more than happy to fix the floors. also if your going to be honest about the payment please remember to add that this job was done through a contractor that you had had issues with as well as I was forever getting payed from him and it left all of us with a bad taste.once again I am more than happy to fix the floors but if we reach a agreement on a time please don't wait till months after that to call again. Thanks Wayne"
The Process:
We met with Wayne initially to discuss the project and walked him through all areas we wanted addressed. Wayne, who is well-organized and responsive, came back quickly with a price quote that was affordable and acceptable. Wayne had several suggestions on installing and maintaining our floors, for example, creating sections by using a threshold or other separator as part of the floor so not all of the floor needed to be refinished at frequent intervals ? only high-traffic areas.
Upstairs hardwood flooring ? new install:
We chose oak hardwood floors and a latex finish that was a close match to our existing hardwood floors. Wayne?s work is very impressive. There are no gaps between boards and the finished product was beautiful and really changed the feel of all the rooms on the floor. His work is so good, in fact, that our old floors (installed by another contractor when we bought the house) look inferior to what he installed.
Refinishing and repair of existing hardwood floors:
Wayne also refinished our existing hardwood floors installed by another contractor. There were several areas where the workmanship of the other contractor was not good and we asked that he repair these. He did a very good job repairing the work, making it look better than it did even when it was first installed. Wayne refinished the existing floor and perked it up very noticeably. He did a great job of blending it with the newly installed floors on our second floor.
Installation:
Because we had such a significant part of our house being worked on (two floors) we moved all our furniture (it?s amazing how much furniture you can fit into a bathroom) into various rooms that were not being refinished, and planned a vacation so that we were out of the house while he did the significant part of his work. As it was during the winter when this work was being done, Wayne went above and beyond by installing a plow on his truck to get his equipment into our driveway when our driveway plowing contractor did not clear as much snow as was needed for Wayne to operate.
? he was willing to whichever we chose. Very flexible.
Wayne knows a lot about flooring and provided fantastic guidance without any bias at all. He wants you to feel comfortable with your choices. There is no pressure or sales tactics with Wayne. His only goal is to provide you with information so you can make an informed decision that works best for you. We took our time and did more research. We ultimately decided on
unfinished flooring and had hired Wayne to handle the finishing.
Wayne did a FANTASTIC job with the flooring in our house. We had to do this over several months from mid-summer through the month of November. Wayne and his crew are all business and extremely reliable ? they always arrived when expected.
Wayne takes pride in his work and clearly enjoys what he does. He installed flooring in the entire first floor of our home and it looks fabulous, so good that we plan to bring him back to install hardwoods on the 2nd floor of our home in Spring 2015.
We would highly recommend Wayne for any new installations or refinishing of your existing hardwood floors. On a personal note, we found him to be friendly, personable and trustworthy. Great guy that is highly skilled in his craft. You may find cheaper alternatives out there but in doing our research, we learned that this is a business that you truly get what you pay for. And with Wayne, he delivers on his promises.
That is also the reason I didn't complete the 1st request for a review.
Update: 11/18/13. Angie's list sent me an email saying that I didn't complete the survey or the results of my using this provider. If you had read my answers you would've known that I didn't use this contractor!
Many years ago, I refinished the hardwood oak floors in our daughter's home by myself, so I had some idea of how it should be done. Or so I thought. The techniques that Wayne and his crew used would put me to shame! They were much more efficient and effective, with much more impressive results. The crew is used to working together, so the work is done in almost total silence. Each worker knows what the other is doing and where his part fits in the total scheme. It was enjoyable to watch. The floors became more beautiful as each succeeding coat of polyurethane was applied. My wife and I couldn't believe the final results, which were better than we had hoped for.
It has been over 6 months since our floors were done and they have held up perfectly, even with the regular visits of our active grandchildren..
Artistic Hardwood Floors has got to be the best-kept secret in this area. It is very easy to give them my highest endorsement without reservation.
