We were having my husband's bathroom totally redone. It has been in the process for three years. Starting next week, we're pulling out this whole bathroom that he put in. We found that he didn't vent anything that he was supposed to put in. We have had water running through the junction boxes time after time. I mean gallons and gallons of water. We have water damage between the floors.

Nothing went according to plan. The contractor made unauthorized purchases and he used substandard materials after agreeing to use premium quality materials. When asked where the permit to do the work was, he stated that it was in his truck. He also said that the inspectors had inspected and approved the job. However, at the end of the job when we asked for the permits and inspection approvals, he admitted that he had never gotten the permits. Workmanship was bad. The whirlpool tub, which includes a heater, back massage and air jets came with its own electrical panel with the correct amps - but he did not use it and the tub kept flipping the breakers until the tub representative told us what the problem was. The new high flush toilets overflowed and flushed on their own. The overflowing toilet highlighted the fact that sub-standard waterproofing material did not hold up, but created a large water spots in the downstairs foyer. He did not reinforce the ceiling so that a hoyer lift could be installed after agreeing to. The list goes on. At the end of the project when we paid him, he badgered us about not getting a bonus for doing a beautiful job. Finally, after four hours of him harranging us, we gave him $2,000 extra to leave. We are going to file complaints with the Department of Consumer Protection though the Attorney General's office and Better Business Bureau. We feel like that we were totally ripped off by someone who wanted to take advantage of our age and poor health. Update - he has changed his company to Turner Home Improvement.
