First contact was in March was told it would be done in a few months, just finished today 1-31-16. His builder was fantastic, Masons very good but very slow. Every time we turned around there was an extra cost. Owner blamed every sub contractor and us for all the delays. He always wanted his money up front. Overall we are satisfied with the job but at close to 50% over contracted price. My advice to anyone who is considering using Preferred Properties is:
1. get everything in writing, read it and understand it.
2. Have an exact payment schedule.
3. Save all e-mails
4. Record all conversations.
This has been a very pain staking process and we are very happy it is finally over.
"$8500 project is a large and important project to us and the consumer for that manner. Our store policy has always been in affect for Plant materials- a two year warrantee pro rated as the following: first year 100% plant replacement labor excluded. The second year 50% plant replacement Labor excluded. This is explained and signed off on upon initiating contract with us by the Customer. At the time of discussion there were only two plants that were completely died of.. We stood by those two and offered replacements. Customer was short after hearing the plant materials were free and we asked how she wanted to handle labor replacement costs. At $8500 hundred dollars there is obviously a lot going on and We are glad to say the rest of the Project held up great. She will be surely missed. And yes after 28 years of retail we have shifted our business model to Outdoor Living fabulously and outdoor kitchen design build. We have over 12 outdoor kitchens featured in national publications but that does not stop our mainstay as professional landscaping nurserymen. There is simply not enough time to provide walk in retail garden center services. We focus on the Landscaping and hardscaping customers as our priority."
