I love my patio, in spite of the color differences, though it will bother me for the rest of my days. The slope, the pattern, the smoothness, the way it looks so natural, are all things I like. I try to focus on how much nicer it is than the grass/mud that used to be there. Tony was not always responsive when I called him with a problem. I would have to leave messages over and over. It took almost a week to get the fence piece turned around the right way. Other times he called back only when I did not pay him promptly - but that was my only recourse. He made excuses and blamed me for his blunders - the tree limb, the need for more concrete, the ruts in the yard, yet he didn't or couldn't fix these things. Not sure if I would use him again, but if so, I would change some things - I would get estimates from other vendors. I would be there during every minute of the work. I would monitor the progress much more closely.
Description of Work: Tony installed a stamped concrete patio in my yard. It was early in the season (April) and he was looking for work and I had been wanting a patio for years. He showed me examples, brought me to places to see work he had done, and I spoke to one of his customers. They were happy and their patio looked very nice. I went over the layout with him, he framed it and asked for my approval. I changed one section - he changed his framing, and I was happy. Work started soon after. He told me in advance that he would have to take out a section of fence to bring in the concrete, and I said that would be okay as long as he put it back when he was done. He said he would. I assumed the piece of fence to be removed would be next to the patio, 3 feet away. It turned out to be a section on the other side of my back yard, by a tree, with plantings around it. So he drove the cement truck across the yard making deep ruts as it went. I was not home so I didn't know how many trips he made. He also drove his pickup across the same way. Later I saw he had cut a 3" limb off the tree because the branches were scratching his truck. Losing the limb made the tree look lopsided. Then, when he was done, he put the fence section back up - backwards! Finally, as it was drying, the area around the back step looked to be a different color than the rest of the patio. He said that because of the change I had made in the configuration, he had to mix more cement. As with paint, it should all have been done at the same time in the same batch. He said the color was different because it was still wet, that the color would continue to change slightly for a year. He wanted to be paid. I was waiting for the color to change to match the rest. The color still has not changed, but I did pay him eventually.
