After many false starts and complications getting permits etc we signed a contract with this company over one year ago. The existing building was demolished straight away. Since then every bit of work has been done as slow as humanly possible. Weeks would go by with no work done. Then a few sporadic days of activity - usually a 2 or 3 man crew. Eventually after framing and with a plywood roof the building was left untouched for many months - exposed to all sorts of weather. After repeated calls to the company with no results or callbacks, we finally got a visit from the contractor. All sorts of excuses but none of them very satisfactory. Boiled down to 'the company does not have any money'. Our payments to date have covered all the work (what little of it there is) and included about 80% of the job profit. We were offered the solution of "we will organise the contractors and products and you (the owners - us) can pay them directly. That way no money goes through our company". A workable solution - or so we thought. Roof shingles go on - we pay for it. Weeks drag on. Windows go in - we pay the supplier. Weeks drag on with more promises... no work done.
We have finally realised that we will get nowhere with this company. Hugely disappointing. We now have to try to find someone else to pick up the job and finish it. On a $130,000 job we will now have to pay another lead contractor to manage things.
Disheartened, angry and fed up. The representatives may be nice people, but have shown themselves completely untrustworthy. We will seek legal help to recover our money.
