Absolutely no problems! Because all of the floors in the house were being refinished, we had to hire movers to move the furniture from the west side of the house to the east side and then a week later to move everything to from the east side to the west side and then a week later to put everything back in place. That meant that Neal's had to do the job as scheduled. They were very punctual and the floors were beautiful. There were "bubbles" in a couple places, which happens with oil-based polyurethane, but they promptly fixed that without any trouble. The price was also much better than another quote we received.

We received an estimate of $2200 to refinish the first floor of a house we bought. It was mostly painted wood floors, and two rooms were new/ raw wood. We had pictures from the previous owners, so we knew there was some damage under the paint and we would need to do some repairs. Even though we shared the pics and the evidence of damage, Neal's didn't schedule the carpenter when we booked the job. So the floors were sanded on a Wednesday, but we had to wait six days for the carpenter. (We were told it was a 4-5 day job; it quickly turned into a 10 day job since they didn't schedule time for repairs.) They did the repairs, and even came on a Saturday to finish the job since they'd messed up the schedule, which was appreciated, and we were moving in the following week. HOWEVER, the repairs were not great. It's hard to match an older floor. Some parts looked good and others did not. I sent an email with pictures asking about the final results-- twice-- and got no response other than "someone will be in touch with you." Even better, I realized that they had billed us-- for almost $3300-- and charged my credit card before we had even seen the final results and without approval from us. As for the results, look at the pictures and see what you think. The new boards are much lighter; they said they would be staining them to get a better match, but I don't think it looks even close. The fact that they didn't even respond to my question about the final result-- plus the visual of the results-- leads me to post this cautionary review.

Contacted Neals Wood Flooring in Branford CT for an estimate to replace a couple of wood flooring panels and sand and refinish wood floors in our home. George Olt arrived on time the date of our appointment. He gave an estimate of the cost of the work to be performed. He emailed the quote to me the following day. We signed on for this company to perform the work. They did a fabulous job. The men who performed the work were extremely neat. We found only one small splash of polyurethane on the baseboard. Excellent job !! We had expected to come home to some heavy duty cleaning on our part. Not the case. I highly recommend Neal's for your wood flooring needs. They originally installed the flooring several years back and did a fabulous job at the time also.

I was promised the quote the next day and I had to call several times to actually receive the quote. Finally received the quote 7 days later!
By the time I did, I had already had someone else come to look. The other company's price was $750 less for the same service. Also we asked to have the quote done for both the the upstairs and downstairs separate and together and only received one price.
I was not happy with the responsiveness, so I would not consider using them to complete the work even if they had been cheaper.
Response from Neal's Flooring, Inc.
"It is important to know. Neal's did not do the work. We do not feel that a review of a company that has not performed services for the complaining party is not appropriate. This customer did not agree with what we suggested was the best solution for her flooring needs. Neal's will not install any product that we feel is not appropriate for the conditions present in the home. We would rather lose a sale than install a product that we feel will fail and only cause the customer future problems."

It was an absolute pleasure working with this company. George Olt (general manager) rendered excellent service from selection of material (he looked at every single sample in the showroom with me) thru instillation. George always returned my calls in a timely manner and kept me informed. The two installers were prompt, efficient and did an excellent job, they even offered advice on which way the planks should run. I took their advice, they were right!! My job went smoothly from beginning to end. I highly recommend Neal's and George Olt. PS The hardwood floor is fabulous!

Excellent work and very clean. The dustless system was great. Rooms were on the second floor and there wasn't a trace of dust anywhere. Very nice workers.

The job that they did for me I wasn't 100% satisfied with. They delivered the wrong wood and their driver actually said you don't want to take it back for you and then the wood that I was ordered wasn't available right away so I had to wait a while before, it has to be delayed because of somebody's ineptitude I will say. When the job was done it wasn't really Neal's with flooring he did the job. I had a refinished hardwood floor put down and they subcontracted the work out to somebody in the bridge port area who then brought in a bunch of young Brazilian guys probably in their likely teens and they did okay. I would say the work that they did was okay. I didn't have any problems with the quality of their work. There was couple of things that needed to be addressed in the floor afterwards and the guys took care of it without any question. They addressed issues afterwards without giving me any hard time. They are really on top of that. I ordered a regular redofloor and they delivered the pacific ash. I had to have few pieces of wood replaced and an experienced carpenter came in and took care of it and he was good.

Very positive experience. Only minus was very minor paint damage done to wall baseboards due to sanding. Overall, floors came out great and I was very pleased with customer service.

Neal's representative arrived on-time and with a pompous air of professionalism. He measured rooms and advised that the curve in our flooring leading to a lower level (similar to the angle of a grand piano) would be a difficult project (agreed) but he would recommend a carpenter who would be capable of performing the job in conjunction with Neal's Flooring. Everything was going fairly well until I began asking specifics about the installation. We had pulled up a layer of particle board knowing full well that the board was not substancial enough to hold nailing for hardwood floors and what remained was a 1/2 inch plywood with several wide circular holes from previous plumbing. After explaining my concern about the holes in the floor, the very wet crawl space basement, the musty smell, and the lack of moisture barrier the rep stated that the barrier should go underneith in the ceiling of the basement and that was our only option, there was no need for an additional layer of plywood or barrier on the top floor. We also pointed out a small bulge in the center of the flooring which he immediately pointed out as being structural and that there was no solution for the bulge and we would have to just and quot;deal with itand quot;. He also recommended for our and quot;situationand quot; that we install unfinished hardwood flooring with vage excuses as to why he felt it necessary.
This was our 3rd of 4 assessments, Neal's Flooring was the worst,...one of which our assessments included a representative from Lowe's. The suggestion that we can layer hardwood floors over only a 1/2 inch of plywood was immediately dismissed by Everyone (except for Neal's), all required at least an additional 1/2 inch of plywood, some recommending more. In addition the other vendor's recommended a layer of vapor barrier between the two layers of plywood due to the heavy moisture coming from the basement. Others recommended solutions for the slight bulge in the floor and adjustments to deal with the curve which would make it more economical for us to install the hardwood floors. None recommended we should go with unfinished flooring.
Overall, in my opinion, Neal's is not interested in leading a ethical buisness practice but is out to make a buck and has no cares about the longevity of their projects. If I had gone with them my floors would have been a disatrouse nighmare of bulges within a year.

They were pretty true to their timeline. They came out when they said they would and stayed close to the timeline throughout the job. Their pricing was competitive.

# 1 The crew did a fairly good job installing most of the floor, but the collaterla damage was extreme- they destroyed most of the door mouldings, and bent the threshold of the the brand new front door, and also did a terrible job of finishing around the hearth. None of the crew spoke English so I was unable to directly address the problems. Neals reduced the bill by the cost of the damaged mouldings right away, but I had to fight them for several months over the door; I finally paid the balance less the cost of the door sill repair, and did not hear back. #2 I had a marginally better experience and the crew spoke English, but I still have quality issues, the flooring was very green and is cracking along the grain, and their urethane finish work is very poor- brush hairs in the finish, fish eyes and drips, generally very poor all around. I will get it in writing not to hire Neal's, if there ever is a next time.

My husband initially set up the appointment for an estimate on the installation of our floor (we're in the process of finishing our attic). Neal's was very flexible when I had to call them back and change the date and time of the estimate. They showed up right on time (a few minutes early, actually) for the inspection, and we had our quote by e-mail within 48 hours, just like they promised. When we signed the quote, we also had a few questions, and we got a call back right away. I was very impressed with the amount of research Neal's did to answer my question about the suitability of the underlayment we had purchased. They called the manufacturers to ask them directly! When we determined that I'd need an extra roll of black paper to put down on the subfloor, they gave me the option of getting it myself or having them bring it. I chose the latter, and it cost an extra $20, which was what I would have paid anyway. When their installers arrived (again, right on time), they moved our heavy boxes of flooring upstairs and got right to work. Not only were they finished by lunch, but they left the place very clean-it looked rather like the floor had magically appeared without any evidence of the work having taken place. Very nice! We are very happy with our gorgeous floors!

When I purchased this home it was covered in carpet and it was very ugly so I called this company to come and fix everything up. When they were done, the floors looked brand new. I loved them. I have had a lot of compliments on the floors since I got them. The service providers were great step by step.
