First, I'd like to say I can confirm the previous reviews I see here as accurate. Mather the owner and his second-in-command Dave are total professionals, they are extremely creative, they listen to what you want (and don't want), they come up with options and suggestions that you would probably have never though of, they really care that you are happy with the results. They do much more than put in new plantings and walkways. Mather and Dave transformed the outside spaces around our modest home. We only had a rough idea of what we wanted, but with their help we ended up with a really outstanding outdoor space. We originally tried another locally popular company. I've seen their completed work at others homes and its fine, but our discussions with them did not really show the spark of creativity we were looking for, especially since we were unsure of exactly what we wanted. It was clear from his first visit Mather would be totally different, he really can present options and help you visualize them. I believe our project was relatively modest compared so many of the projects they undertake, but feel we were still treated as important customers. I am writing this review about 2 years after we completed our project. Why? Because I never wrote an original review and after 2 years I can vouch for their professionalism and follow through. You don't often get to see this in reviews. 2 year later, I can truly say we are very happy with the design, the quality and "service after the sale". I don't really get to write a review like this anymore, something where we ended up happy, without reservations. After several month, when some of our planting were showing severe distress (covered by the guarantee) they send over an expert who works for them part time to assess if there were any problems and to provide some care and fertilization tips. They offered to replace the planting having trouble at that time under the warranty, or offered to extend the warranty to the following season if we wanted to try to nurse some of them back to health (if you've ever been through picking out plantings, you may understand you may want to see if you can nurse some back to health rather than pick out new ones). So, 18+ months or more after they finished the original project, Dave personally came over to replace the few that did not survive, and even allowed us to make some minor changes in an attempt to pick more robust plants based on our setting. The year after the project completed 2 or 3 pavers settled along an edge of one walkway and one near a step on a second. Dave send over a couple of workers to rectify them. (This is not an unusual occurrence on a large project). The final thing I will mention is responsiveness. Before and especially during our project, Mather and/or Dave were very responsive to email questions or by text. The other employees of the company were also personable and really seemed to care that you were happy with the work, they would answer questions about what they were doing, and if something came up they couldn't answer, they would get the message back to Dave who would. Also, Look at Mather's website, it's what convinced us to place our first call to him. What you see on their website, they can make happen. Overall, even almost 2 years later we are pleased with the results, felt we receive our money's worth, and would highly recommend them.

After speaking to four or five companies we decided to use Clarke Landscapes for our outdoor project, and I can tell you upon completion we made 100% the right decision.  We had a basic idea of what we wanted, but it was really Mather's creativity, expertise and vision that is why our project has surpassed our expectations. 
From day one, the guys working at our house (Jon and Chris) were professional, courteous and went above and beyond with any needs/concerns we had without thinking twice.  Dave, Mather's right hand man, was also integral to the project and also had tremendous vision.  During the whole project, which lasted over 10 weeks, we were well informed and the passion and creativity remained.  Mather and Dave would sometimes talk and visualize things for hours.  It was amazing to see the transformation of stone, dirt and machinery into what we have now.  Our friends and family continue to marvel at the attention to detail and subtle accents that really make all the difference.   
If you have an outdoor project and want it done right I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. There are companies that will simply "install" what you tell them, and then there are companies like Clarke Landscapes that think, create, and execute what are true living spaces and extensions of the home that will be utilized for years.

Mather took our vision and created an outdoor living space that went above and beyond our imagination. The team was wonderful to work with, polite and always punctual. Any of our questions or changes along the way were handled professionally and quickly. While we had an idea about the plantings, when it was time, Mather took us to the nursery where we hand selected the material together. Again, he went above and beyond and we couldn't have asked for anything better.
We also wanted an outdoor pavilion. Mather recommended a builder that he works with (Kraner Builders) who built us a beautiful structure that completes the whole space perfectly.
We are so pleased with how it all turned out.

Clarke Landscapes did an amazing job with the landscaping around our pool. They installed the paver patio, along with a firepit, as well as an incredible array of bushes and landscaping around our pool and backyard. We told the owner, Mather Clarke what we wanted, and he gave us wonderful suggestions that always worked out beautifully. He used giant boulders that came from the excavation of our pool to form a natural wall. He took such pride in his work, that the end results always impressed us tremendously. He came to inspect every day, and often worked on the yard himself. He sent the same two men to do the bulk of the work and these men had such a work ethic--they came before we even woke up, and didn't leave until it was too dark to see! I saw them digging in pouring rain many times and I never caught them breaking for lunch!
In fact, we were so pleased with their work, that we kept hiring them to do extra jobs. For example, they re-did our front door steps which were improperly constructed by a prior contractor. We had them do a paver landing at the base of our deck. We also had them place decorative pavers around our landscaping in the front yard. We also had them put in the lighting around the pool.
This summer, a couple of bushes did not last the winter and they came back immediately to replace them, as well as some light bulbs that had gone out after the winter. We have and will recommend them highly to friends and family and will definitely use them again for our next projects.

Clarke Landscapes, LLC says that they Design, Build, and Create and that could not be more accurate. Mather is visionary in his designs. He took our run down backyard and transformed it into a park like setting where we can gather as a family and entertain. This was not the easiest project due to the fact that we have a great deal of ledge in the backyard to deal with. Nothing got in the way in this transformation. If they couldn't move it, they built it in as part of the hardscape. The crew that worked at our house for 4 weeks were top notch! We have had several home improvements and I can say hands down that this crew was the most respectful, punctual, skilled and hard working group of people who have worked at our house. In addition to regular communication with the onsite crew, Mather checked in throughout the project to walk us through progress, adjust plans as needed, and make sure we were happy with the work. It was amazing to watch the precision with which huge rocks were placed, as well as the cuts that were made in the stone to fit pieces together. As nice as it was to see the hardscape complete, it took on a whole new level of greatness when the flower beds, plants and grass were put in. We have already had our first fire in the fire pit and our kids are out playing in the backyard more than ever. We would highly recommend Clarke Landscapes, LLC to anyone looking to do a landscape project and can't wait to work with them in the future to complete a project in the front yard!

Mather, Dave and crew were fantastic to work with. We have known Mather for over 20 years and Dave for 15 years. Mather and Dave are two of the most creative people in the landscaping industry in this area. They were punctual, responsive and were happy to answer any questions we had about our job. Our job did get delayed a bit, but that was solely due to poor weather conditions, which they had no control over. As soon as the weather was better, they were back working on the job. We couldn't be happier with Clarke Landscapes. We've received so many compliments regarding our landscaping over the past year and a half. We are looking forward to working with them again soon.
