Overall, the process of installing my granite countertops went quite well.  Since the granite my wife and I selected had large patterns, the owner spent over an hour with my wife determining how the granite would be cut to optimize appearance when entering the kitchen and how to minimize pattern variations at the two joints.  Joints were necessary because in two cases the required granite length exceeded the length of the granite stock. Even the back splashes were cut to provide pattern continuity. The installation went smoothly and the workers were very professional and neat.   Before selecting Academy Marble and Granite we solicited quotes from half a dozen suppliers in the Danbury, CT area.  These suppliers had an on site inventory of granite from which to choose so their quotes included the actual cost of the material we selected.  Academy was the lowest quote.  I supplied a drawing of the areas where the granite was to go.  Surprisingly, one supplier determined an area that was ten percent larger than any other supplier or my drawings (at $70 per sq ft).  Another supplier quoted a very low per square foot price for the granite but priced creating templates and other items separately.  For all the other suppliers the price per square foot included everything.  I would recommend Academy Marble and Granite to anyone without hesitation.
