Fact #1: This company came out to start the job on September 17.
Fact #2: Upon arriving, the crew said they would not be able to finish in one day (despite my contractor telling me they confirmed this to be a 1 day job)
Fact #3: They said they would be back on Monday, September 19 to finish the job. (very reasonable)
Fact #4: They never showed up that Monday (or any day since then). The job is only 40-50% complete.
Fact #5: Both my contractor and I have both continually tried to calling the company to get them back out to complete the job. They have told us they had some equipment problems (weeks ago), but still haven't been able to come back out and finish the job.
Fact #6: We have asked repeatedly to just be put on their schedule so we know when to expect them - to no avail. The sales rep says he's not responsible for scheduling, the scheduler simply doesn't respond to calls or voicemails.
My entire attic project has now been on hold for over a month while we wait for this company to complete the job. I would not recommend using this company regardless of whether or not the quality and price are right (I can't evaluate that aspect).
UPDATE:
I have learned from US Insulation that they have not come back to complete the job because my general contractor has not paid them for other past jobs. I am happy that I was able to finally get to the bottom of what is going on here (something didn't seem right), I am just a little frustrated it took me a month of badgering to get the truth. The work is still not complete due to the ongoing dispute with my GC, but I will update this once again after we have resolved all issues. After the true reasons were brought to my attention, US Insulation has acted professionally and fair up until this point, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, both of us are losers in this situation where the GC has the money and the job isn't complete.
"The contractor they hired has not paid us for multiple other jobs leading up to this one. Unfortunately for this consumer they did not contract us directly for this job and their contractor is 100% responsible for the situation they are in. We are a very reputable company with an A rating at BBB and have a reputation which keeps our company booked all the time. We have now offered to deal with this consumer directly and will get the job done promptly and expect as all other customers we deal with, they will be extremely satisfied with our work."
