+ 0 moreMike Hull destroyed my pool deck and I had to have someone level my front steps. Each year I open my pool I am reminded of the horrific job he did. Poor quality, poor workmanship, and now I must spend $25k in repair. This year opening the pool was the worst it has been as all the grouting has lifted off to expose gravel/ small stones that find their way into the pool which then must b cleaned twice a week. He caulked using the wrong non-waterproof material and replaced it with junk. He also repointed the brick deck that was perfectly fine and now is breaking apart and sinking where it meets the coping. Never came back to see the devastation after sweetly selling the project. I wish I had known better and never have used this company.

+ -1 moreWe have not used this contractor, but our neighbor does. I watch them because of their idea of clearing the neighbor?s leaves means blowing them onto our yard rather than blowing them 20 feet further into the back of the yard they are doing. One year when I asked them not to, in a phone call with someone, I supposed was the owner, in a very upsetting rant, I was called a very unfriendly name many times. This year as I watched, one of the men waved and gave me the finger, since I guess, he really couldn?t in front of me blow the leaves over the stone wall and was frustrated. They may be cheap labor, they may do a decent job ? but the how and wherefore are debatable. That is why the responsiveness and professionalism is an F. This has been going on at least 3 years.

snow removal
+ -1 morethey did a fast job, a little too fast for me. They left corners and edges with big piles, which would not be a problem in a larger driveway. But with tight turns to pull out and 4 cars, we need all the space we can get. However, the main reason I switched to another company was because of how late they showed up. The owner is very nice and personable and I told him that we work in the hospital and usually have to either leave or get into the driveway early. He said no problem, if we ever needed to get in/out earlier to just call. I told him to just assume we need it done early, he said no problem. Most days they came hours after the snow stopped. A couple of times we shoveled most of the driveway before they showed up, made one pass and charged the whole fee (because it is in the contract). After the big snow in 10/12 I was told they had to take care of their town before coming to West Hartford, I am assuming that is why they do mine so late every snow while my neighbors are all done hours earlier. overall, nice guys, a bit sloppy and show up late if you live in West Hartford

+ 0 moreThe start of the job was delayed several times by weeks. The job took a little longer than expected but they did a great job, once done it looked fabulous. They were supposed to come back to repair a section that was damaged when someone drove off the edge when it was snowing. I guess the weight of the car and wet soil allowed the stones to shift. The owner has been promising for over a year to come and fix it. I have heard every excuse possible from death in the family to birth in the family, equipment in the shop lots of other jobs etc etc etc. I had been nervous about switching to pavers because I knew so little about them. The owner promised they were easy to care for and that if there was ever a problem they could come over and fix the issue. He explained that was a major advantage to pavers over asphalt, you don't have to cut out major sections and patch, you can just pull offending stones and adjust or replace as needed. Well, that may be the case, but I can't get them to come over to do the repair.

leaf removal
+ -1 moreI called them today and talked to Mike, he claims they didn't do it. He said he has pictures to prove he didn't do it. It doesn't matter, I just need to know what he is going to do about it. He called me a pain in the "blank" and he didn't want to deal with us or clear up the leaves. I just want people to know that he is not exactly ethical before making any hiring decisions.
Description of Work: We live in a wooded lot and are required to clear the leaves each fall. This company was hired to clear our neighbors yard of their leaves. We had already cleared the stone wall and everything on our side of the wall, which cost us $700. When they did my neighbors yard, they ended up blowing many leaves into our property. We will have to pay to clear it up if they don't take care of it.

+ -1 moreI told him how I was happy about speaking with a live person. He told me that he didn’t have a pen but if I call right back and leave a voicemail he would get back to me. He never called me back. I called him again and left another message, still no call back. I won't be using him due to not being responsive.
Description of Work: I called and spoke with Mike, the owner, because I need a fall clean-up for my yard and also plant some plants.

Description of Work: I Had a landscape service for 15 years working on my property. This year I noticed that the company changed the date of cutting my lawn from Fridays to Tuesdays. I called and said that I preferred to have my lawns cut on Thursday or Fridays. I was told that because they had to group customers according to where they lived my House fell on Tuesdays. I asked if they could review it and let me know if I could go back to my Fridays of the last 15 years. I then called again and stated that I entertain alot on weekends and my lawn by the pool looks bad by Saturday. I was told again that they couldn't do anything to change me back to Fridays. I let them know that I would have to look for another service. I contacted several Landscape companies and Mike Hull From Sunrise Valley returned my call immediately. He told me he would be out that afternoon to give me an estimate. He came at 4 that afternoon gave me an amazing estimate. He said he could start immediately and that he did other home on the same street and he could absolutely do my yard on Fridays. Not only was he quick to respond but very professional. He emailed a contract that night and also said he does snow as well. I called my neighbor who had the same service as we did before and she also now has Sunrise Valley Landscape do her yard. I would highly recommend Mike and his company. Outstanding!!!!

+ 0 moreSunrise Valley was prompt to respond and return with an estimate. My first year of lawn work was good, the second not as good. The quality dropped, they started running over stuff (like a bucket) that was in the yard (hard to avoid with a toddler). I ignored it since it was stuff I had left out, until they ruined a lawn chair that was pushed up against the house. Fall clean up this year was a bit sloppy. Prior to fall clean up I specifically asked if this year they could cut back the ornamental grasses as part of the fall clean up rather than the spring. The owner stated of course, that is when they are supposed to be cut (the year before they did not cut them). They left without cutting them, I contacted him and he sent them back to do cut them.... they did a rushed and sloppy job leaving them uneven with long strands jutting out around the edges. The owner is super friendly but has lots of excuses for why things don't get done. He talks a good game but this last year quality dropped.
Description of Work: I had signed up to have spring cleaning, weekly mowing and a fall clean-up for spring clean-up they do a de-thatching, clean out all of the garden beds, cleared away all the leaves that the previous home owners were kind enough to leave me, cut back some of ornamental grasses and mow the lawn. for weekly service they have been mowing and edging
