Multiple issues with the installment. Customer service is horrible. Can’t get the company to come out and fix the problem that they didn’t install properly. They want to charge me to come out just to see what the problem is. I will not recommend.

Terrible. Diagnosed our furnace malfunction that resulted in no heat upstairs (bedrooms) on Tuesday morning. Delayed service for 2 days, when nighttime temps were in the 30s. Finally scheduled repair appointment and then arrived 4 hours late and without required parts for job! When telephoned the office to ask about 1) the initial delay in scheduling the repair, 2) whether anyone was coming out on the day of the appointment when no one was showing up, and 3) why the technician finally showed up but with no parts, the owner's tone was rude, degrading and disrespectful and he hung up on me and canceled the job leaving us in a lurch despite our service repair agreement! Totally bad experience without resolution.

The routine check went very well. There is a serviceman by the name of George who seems to know a lot about the electric outdoor furnace and he does very thorough job. This is the reason why I am keeping the company's annual contract service, which entails two visits a year. One before the summer season and one before the winter season to check the system. In 2013, I had a flooding on the basement floor. The water came from the furnace. The pump that removed the accumulated condensation water no longer functioned and the water flooded out of a collection tray. Entire carpeted floor was flooded. The first serviceman only cleaned out the attached tube but didn't check to see if the pump was functioning. I was told that the problem was fixed but I had another flooding and another serviceman was sent three days later. He right away checked if the pump was functioning and diagnosed that I had to replace the pump. I paid for both visits. The first visit was $222.27 and the second visit was $378.28. I called the company back then to negotiate the price since it was their serviceman's failure that the malfunctioning pump was not detected and the second flooding occurred but the owner didn't even take my call. When the serviceman visited this year for the maintenance check, I gave him a copy of each visit receipt and explained to him why I was not happy about it but I didn't hear from the company. The e-mail survey was sent to me in which I explained why I was not satisfied and no one got back to me. It is fair to conclude that unless you get someone who knows what he is doing from this company, you can potentially get into problems like mine and will never hear from the company. I read in Angie's LIst response from Brian that his company guarantees a job but my job was not guaranteed.

After replacing the condenser, the AC stopped working immediately.  The company sent out another tech who installed what can best be described as a "Rube Goldberg" apparatus to bypass what he said was a clogged drain on the pan under the AC unit.  The tech cut a hole in the attic flooring (I'm sure not up to code) and installed an electric pump to remove the water from the pan.  Of course, if this arrangement worked at all, it certainly wouldn't make sense to install this in an uninsulated attic.
It's 12 degrees in Connecticut today and the entire drain/electric pump is frozen solid thereby rendering the furnace inoperable.  The solution from a highly rated Angie's List HVAC contractor is to wait until the thing thaws so that he can rip out this mess and diagnose if any damage was done to the furnace from water freezing in the heat exchanger.
Please don't fall for the "maintenance contract" as I did.  Of no benefit whatsoever.
Response from Aire Serv of Southwest Connecticut and Shelton
"Dear [member name removed], I am so sorry we did not live up to our high service standards we strive for and i understand your frustration. As the owner of Aire Serv of Southwest Ct. i wish you had called me about how you were feeling. You had used us 6 or 7 times the previous 1.5 years to keep your older system running. We did change your indoor evaporator coil and had done some repairs to your 1989 Trane furnace and I appreciate the business you gave us. Your furnace is an attic mounted condensing gas furnace and will freeze if the temperatures drop way below freezing. The manufacturer says that model furnace is to be installed in conditioned space not in an attic which is part of the problem. Your furnace produces the condensate water which must be drained constantly and will freeze below 32 degrees. We did not install the furnace or drain lines for your system we did install the pump since we could not get the water to gravity drain at all during the summer. We did these repairs in June of 2013 and I have to assume it worked well until we had the very cold weather. I strive for great quality and satisified customers and regret you had this experience with aire Serv. I wish we had been given the opportunity to correct the issue as we always warranty our work for 1 year part and labor. Brian Powell (Owner) Aire Serv of Southwest Ct 203-736-8952"

They were extremely good. They were very professional and I had them come back to do service on it. The first year it was free service as a part of the deal. The guy Brian who owns the business was just wonderful and very responsive. When they came to fit the system, he looked at the house and gave us exact details where everything would be disrupted because it was going to be put in the old home and the closets were the duck work and all that kind of stuff. When they did the job nothing changed. I did not have the house more cut out or changed. It was all the way he described it. The guys that worked for him was really nice in terms of cleaning up. I was a mess when they did this kind of job. It was not pleasant I had to empty all my closets. I have plaster rock in my house not sheet rock. It was a nightmare. They cleaned everything up and did not leave a mess and I was happy with that. I thought his prices were fair.

We secured a service contract with this company last year.  Each time we try to use them, they seem unmotivated to do any work.  Recently, when the furnace died, we repeatedly heard how things were installed incorrectly (though it had all been working fine until a couple of days prior).  They seemed more interested in criticizing the installation than in actually fixing it.  Ultimately, they cleaned out the filtration system, which we had pointed them to, and the system ran for a few more days before dying again.  The experience was bad enough that we have written off the contract and will be securing someone else to do the work.
