He pointed out a couple areas needing further attention, gave us excellent alternatives to cutting down a sweet, old, sugar maple and sound advice about what should and shouldn't be done with the tress needing attention. We came up with a plan. He priced it - I was so pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the price was compared to the horror stories I had heard about after Irene. I called the neighbors and they were well pleased with his work. We told him to go ahead figuring it would be a few days before he could start. I was shocked and even more pleased when, after he finished the work for our neighbor, he tackled the first part of our job. Day two saw the major work done and cleaned up.
We had one change in the original contract because the tree that needed cabling was near our septic fields and he didn't want to damage them with heavy equipment. He called in a tree climber expert who had the maple tree cabled and trimmed in under an hour. I was amazed at how quickly he was done!
He is a professional arborist, is licensed and insured with 30 +years experience. He supervised his crew well, he guided them in which limbs to cut, and ensured they safely operated the heavy equipment and saws. He made sure every scrap of debris was cleaned up. He was very hands on, very knowledgeable, seemed like a great mentor. Seemed to love what he does, too.
My husband and I really appreciated his and quot;artist'sand quot; eye: He was always looking at not only what should come off but what should be saved and how the tree will look at the end. He walked around the trees to view all sides and the results are incredible. I was
astounded that a tree that I thought looked pretty good but a bit wild could be trimmed so heavily and look so much better. Amazing!
In the end, the work they did opened up the yard and lawn to better light and air; prevented limbs from falling on the house or cars; beautified some old raggedy trees into healthy, handsome specimens and saved a tree I thought was a goner. He is extremely well equipped - with wood chipper and covered chip truck, bucket/boom to get those hard to reach, high areas, and can even call in an expert climber or crane if necessary. At every stage, he and his crew clean up after themselves. They were very conscientious about where our septic system and fields were so they could avoid harming them with heavy loads.
I highly recommend this excellent business and will use them again in a heartbeat. I already have a couple new projects for them in the Spring.
