Tom McEniry, V.P. Teller County Flooring, was completely dishonest about his skills and abilities to install and finish a hardwood floor. There were sanding marks, he did not trowel putty to fill gaps, only used one coat of water based urethane instead of three stated in contract; used pre-finished wood when stated he hand-finished an acacia interface molding strip, smeared putty on egregiously damaged areas and then put urethane over the smears, etc. When it became apparent he was in over his head and could no longer talk his way out of the mistakes, he “abandoned the job” unfinished; and would not respond to email or phone calls by us to try and resolve this issue. Contract also had an additional small ceramic tile job to add tile to existing tile and extend it to a wall. Unfortunately, they tore out old tile before we checked and saw that the color and size of the new tile was not even close to the existing tile that they were told was not to be removed. The tile sat in the room for four days, while we waited for them to tell us of the error, when we saw they were ready to install this tile, I had to tell Tom to stop, it was wrong. At the beginning and during the job, Tom, stating he was tight on money and requested 60% upfront and again another amount the night before he abandoned his contract. We have had to bring in another company which redid all the flooring jobs efficiently, quickly, and with beautiful results.
