Great. The crew came out and removed the old driveway, setup forms, and poured a new driveway all in under a week. It was great.

Not good.....left my yard a mess and didn't do what was specified in the estimate....removing river rock as necessary, got concrete on my siding and newly painted fence, punctured sprinkler main with concrete form rebar, sawed my fence unevenly with a hand saw and splintered it, footprints in the concrete and other marking.

Sam the Concrete Man came on time and worked hard from start to finish.  They were a little more expensive than other companies but they poured concrete better with having the support of rebar underneath,

Rudy was great to work with. He explained (in detail) the method in which they were going to prep and pour my patio. He left color samples for us to look over. Wow, I never knew concrete had so many shades and colors. On the first day, the first crew was here before 7am. They leveled, laid the re-bar, drilled the caissons and put up the forms. On the second day the second crew (one crew does the re-bar and forms and another does the actual pour) poured and stamped the concrete patio. They were done around noon. The second crew was very patient and helpful. I had an idea of how I wanted the stamp pattern done. I am very glad the second crew took the time to it explain why that was a bad idea. They did a great job! I was very excited when I saw how well the finished pattern turned out. The concrete cured for about two days before they pressured washed the form release off the patio. The next day the applied the sealer. I only had a couple of issues. One was I was told they would pump the concrete to the back of the house. This was so they would not have to push the wheelbarrows over my flagstone walkway. Well there was no pump. Thankfully, the walkway was not damaged. The other issue was with the way the sealer got applied. It took a few tries to get it right. They were very responsive and handled it quickly. Rudy even came out personally to touch-up few spots. We have been enjoying the wonderful patio all summer.

I'm extremely disappointed to have to write this review. I honestly thought these guys were good people. In October of last year (2013), I had $6,000 worth of concrete poured in the back yard and on the side of the house. Here is the disclaimer --- the job was done according to the time frame provided and price I was quoted --- I will give them that. The total job needed two days and they were rushing to get the job done before winter set in. One of the days was allocated for extensive prep work that required some digging and moving dirt around. My concern at this point was that in the area that the prep work was being performed were various sprinkler lines (one of which being the main line from the house). Prior to the job starting, and a few times during the job, I asked them to keep an eye out for any sprinkler lines and where possible to avoid damaging them. They said no problem, and once the site work was done, informed me that no irrigation lines and/or problems were encountered. I was pleased at this point, but did have a nagging suspicion that they were telling me what they thought I wanted to hear.Flash forward to April of this year (2014). I had the sprinkler system de-winterized and my irrigation guy and I turned on the sprinklers for the first time since the concrete was poured. Within 30 seconds, water started seeping out from under the poured concrete. My worst fears were realized. At some point during the site work, they had cut or damaged the main sprinkler line. The only solution (other than ripping up $6k worth of concrete) was to cut and re-route the main sprinkler line and to run it all the way around the other side of the house. My irrigation guy and his partner are out in my yard performing the work as we speak (to the tune of $800).My issue with Sam the Concrete Man (and Rudy in particular) is that upon discovery of the damaged main sprinkler line under the concrete, I phoned Rudy to inform him that his guys did, in fact, damage the line. I was not expecting much really. It could have been an honest mistake by one of their guys who accidentally hit the line without knowing. I will at least admit that much. But here's where it gets bad...Rudy and I had a nice discussion and he honestly felt bad about what happened. He said he probably couldn't cover the $800 fix-it job, but said he and the owner would help me out some way. He offered to do and quot;somethingand quot; because it was the right thing to do and he would talk with the owner and call me back. That was three weeks ago. I've called and left him three messages and he has not called me back (even to say, sorry, but I over-promised a bit and I can't do anything for you...).Call me old-fashioned, but ignoring a client is about the worst thing a business can do --- especially one in the service business. Rudy said that he would try to help me out and that he would call me back. He didn't do either one. And for this, I cannot give Sam the Concrete Man anything but an and quot;Fand quot;. I would never do business with these guys and I would advise you not to either. I'm very sad that it came to this, but now I feel like their whole operation are a bunch of thieves...Maybe I'm over-reacting, but my yard is torn up, I'm $800 out-of-pocket, and Sam the Concrete Man didn't do ANYTHING I asked (including watching for the water line, helping me out, or calling me back). Bunch of hacks in my opinion.

They were fast, efficient, and CLEAN! Rudy was great to work with. Unlike any other contractor, he provided a clear concise estimate on his first visit. I will use this company for all of my future concrete needs.

the workers were great and worked very hard. The owner seemed like he had to many jobs going at once and did not budget his time well there were times he said he was going to show up and did not nor did he call when he didn't show up to let us know that he was not able to until a day later. the finished work is very good but that has to do with his experienced crew. overall we are happy with the patio.

After some weather delays the work went very swiftly. The crews came and went without much noise or commotion, were very polite and considerate, and did the job efficiently. It took one day to rip out all the old redwood, much of it rotten, and another day to prep the site with a compactor and reinforcing rod. I should add that it was necessary to haul ALL materials, in and out, with wheelbarrows. No truck access to our back yard.

The finishing team put in a long day, since this is a very large slab and they had to build a handicap ramp as well. Very diligent, very careful. And the finished patio is first class. Not a single complaint about it, that's for certain.  Then the cleanup crew came and took away the forms and any leftover wood etc. and we had our new surface.

The project was a little bit of trial. The plan was pretty well put together, but the timing was a little bit of an issue. Although I will say Shane and his crews over all did an excellent job! Once we got the plan done a date was set to begin the work. Unfortunately the date had to be moved from a Wednesday start date to a Friday start date because there were issues with them getting a building permit. Communication around the permitting process was a little dicey, but eventually it got worked out for the Friday scheduled start. Bu then on the original Wednesday start date the crew showed up at the house at 7:00am to start working. Well we found out the permit had gotten issued on time and so it was decided to start the job as originally scheduled, they just didn't let us know. Luckily all was good and we were ready to start it anyway so they got right to work. Removal of the existing patio and all their forming work went smoothly and by the end of the day Thursday they were ready for the building inspection right on schedule. Unfortunately the inspection was not able to get scheduled and so we had to wait until the following Monday to get an inspection. Inspection was finally confirmed and when it was done the inspector did not pass the preparation because the caisson holes were not deep enough. So the crew had to come back to make holes deeper. Once holes were reprepared, inspection passed with flying colors. Would have been better if they had completed the caisson holes per the inspection sheet to start with. Then it rained, and now the pour that was schedule for the first Friday, and then moved to the next Friday, had to be delayed until the next week. There were issues in getting the concrete pump scheduled and finally on the Thursday of the third week we had concrete. The pour went well and they did a great job of finishing. In the end the three day project drug out for almost three weeks, but not all of that was on the guys at Sam's. The City was a little bit of bear to work with, and though Shane did a great job the permitting process was probably the biggest issue. Even though they seemed confident about handling the permitting process if needed, which is still unclear whether we should have ever even pulled a permit or not, I would have to say their handling of the permitting was a little less than smooth. However, in the end Lexi in the office got everything under control and it all came together the way it needed to. So being without the back patio for over two weeks was less than convenient, however even with all the little hiccups we are EXTREMELY happy with the final product! The back patio came out better than we even thought it would. The work of Shane and all of his crews was outstanding! We cannot recommend them enough. They changed up our original design a little when they did the forms, but the suggestion of how they did it looks even better than we had expected. Any concrete work we need done in the future will be done by Shane and his group at Sam the Concrete Man!

Everyone I dealt with at Sam's was friendly, but professional. There were some equipment issues so the install pushed, but they kept me informed and updated. The finished product is great!

I was extremely satisfied with Sam the Concrete Man. The estimator was on time and courteousand acirc;?and brvbar;and acirc;?and brvbar;he handed me an estimate at the end of his visit. The estimate clearly explained the job and what the costs would be. The work started on time and the crew was punctual and professional. They came in and worked full days until the job was done. Weather prevented them from working one of the days and they called to let us know. Sam the Concrete Man employees paid great attention to detail and cleaned up at the end of each workday. The job was completed a day early and for the price they estimated. Overall, Same the Concrete Man came in and did the job with very few hassles or distractions. The final product was beyond are expectations. I would highly recommend hiring Sam the Concrete Man.

It was a very nice experience. When they said they were going to start the job, they actually started it. He finished it off and he did exactly what he said. The price was fair. He did exactly what we wanted done.
