BLUE PRINT DESIGN & CONSTR INC

The project ended up fine - the process was just a cluster.

The project started off great with a lot of workers over and Neil showing up often to make sure things were on track and running smoothly, he even took the time to show me and my father how to properly install floating framework so that I could keep within my budget.  As time progressed on the project his sub-contractors began complaining about how Blue Print wasn't paying them and shorting their standard charges, but  I disregarded this as my contract was only with Neil and the work was still being completed.  The project was coming to a close in Dec. 2011 and final payment was made even though some items still needed to be fixed as our trust in Neil was good enough to believe it would be completed to our satisfaction.  Unfortunately the owner of the company, Melissa Schell (not Neil's wife as he told us), ripped up the last check and told us that we owed her an additional ~$2,800 for uncovered expenses that were already negotiated with Neil and completed with payment. 
     Needless to say, we have unfinished areas in our basement, poor workmanship after going back to look more closely, and a pending lawsuit with Melissa (owner) for invoices we never approved, agreed upon verbally or written.  Some of these are up-charges from Melissa after the fact, as we had already agreed with Neil on previous lower price and paid for the services.  We would never recommend Blue Print Construction (Neil Starren or Melissa Schell) to anyone.  One of his painters was caught stealing soda's, beer out of the basement fridge and was never taken care of until I made him replace all that was finished.  After multiple attempts to get horribly painted areas fixed, we gave up on this same painter from Infinity Painting and decided to fix things ourselves. 
     Later, after speaking with the sub-contractors found out that Neil has a felony (selling cocaine) and that's why Kasco Commercial pulls some of the permits and performs no work which is against the law in Denver.  Many of Blue Prints sub-contractors are no longer working with Blue Print (sadly enough, a couple of the sub-contractors are the ones that recommended him in the first place and did all of the quality work in the house that we are happy with, furnace and plumbing).  Overall started off with fireworks and smiles, and ended up fighting to get things fixed and threats of being sued for invalid invoices.

They did excellent interior work. I like that we had an open relationship with them. I was able to ask then any questions that I needed answered. They were upfront with us. I learned about them through a neighbor in my area.
