I can't recommend APEX Plumbing. After doing a lead water test from Denver Water, I found out my water service line was made of lead, and I worked with Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) to get the line replaced. In the bidding process, DURA selected them for the job because it was the lowest bid. After the line was replaced, I found out they were the only bid submitted, which was done on 1/17/2018. When they gave me an estimate for my project in early February, they suggested we use their mole borer because of the location of my existing water line. They also said using that method would require the least amount of demolition inside my house. The water service line comes into the house in my bedroom through the floor, so I was glad Jim, their estimator, had a plan for minimizing the impact to my life & house. Jamie, who schedules the work, said the job would only take 1 day. 2+ months later, their crew showed up without any knowledge about what we'd talked about during the estimate. Their crew didn't want to use my front door for access and instead opted to walk on my freshly planted grass seed to access the back door. This only stopped after I asked their supervisor, Mike, to ask them to use the front door. After looking at my existing service line, Mike, said that they were not going to be able to replace it in the manner I discussed with the estimator, so more demolition was necessary and they started jackhammering the floor and dismantling the cabinet containing all the water valves. Their crew used duct tape to secure the plastic sheets, and when removing them after the first day, the duct tape took off paint from my walls and ceilings as well as left residue on my floors. Blue painters tape was used a few places, but I have no idea why it wasn't used everywhere like it should have been. Mid-afternoon, I was notified that the job wouldn't be completed that day. At the end of the day, my bedroom was left in an unusable state. The next day, the crew arrived early and continued on their work. They did not put out protective plastic throughout the house for this day's work like they'd done the previous day. They “completed the job at the end of the 2nd day. The meter pit they installed is about 2-3 inches too high, so it'll be an obstacle to avoid while mowing once grass is planted. They said the job was done even though nothing was put back together in my basement. I had to contact them again to get this addressed. After contacting Jim about the incomplete job and explaining the difference between what I was told they were going to do and what actually happened, he apologized for any miscommunication, but said "Unfortunately the Dura program is always low bid, so any better technology causing additional costs are rarely included." This wasn't what he said during the estimate. Jim said that Mike would come by to “check the grade of the meter pit and address any other tie up issues,” but he never showed up. Someone from APEX came by to verify the sprinklers were working. He agreed about the meter pit being too high and said they should be able to fix it. Mike did not show up to take care of the basement or the meter pit & shutoff that were set to high. Denver Water came to inspect their work and agreed the meter pit & shut off were too high and failed their inspection (with an additional issue related to the install inside the meter pit). Jim finally responded to my email saying since it's a DURA job, interior repairs are not included. If this was the case, Mike shouldn’t have said he’d fix it. Three days after they “completed” my job, a crew showed up to fix the height of the meter pit & shutoff valve. While fixing this, they cracked a large paver in my flagstone walkway that’s between the curb and sidewalk. It’s now been seven business days since my job was “completed”. My basement is still torn apart, I still have cracked paver, and I haven’t heard anything from Apex about getting this taken care of.

Great service. They did the work in one day. They replaced all of the landscaping they had to move to dig the trench. They also repaired the sprinkler system lines that they had to disconnect to dig the trench. I have a wheelchair ramp and deck out front and they were able to insert the new pipe without moving or dismantling the ramp. Very knowledgeable. They had to put a camera down the old sewer line to see where it was cracked, and deducted that cost from the total sewer line replacement. Would recommend this company.

I was under time pressure to get my sewer line replaced. I contacted 3 companies. Apex was the first to respond and stated they could get this done in the time-frame I needed. Their price was in the middle, 1 company was higher and 1 company was lower. I went with them based on research I did like looking at Angie's List reviews. We got this scheduled and they replaced the sewer line by the date they said they would. But then there were issues with the concrete work that needed to be done after the sewer line replacement. While this concrete work was included in the estimate, this is where communication from them broke down and they became unresponsive. I called them numerous times, left voice mail, and never heard back from them. I had to work with another vendor to get the project completed.
Response from APEX Plumbing Co.
"Hi [Member Name Removed], We are unsure where the communication break down you speak of occurred. From our understanding, you were unhappy with the color of the concrete that was poured when the job was completed but were told we did not promise color matching to old stones initially and you chose not to re-contract us for the portion of the concrete (skirt) you had replaced after our work was complete. We sent an employee out to the site on Oct 27, 2016 when we received your review and some photos were taken that confirm the work was re-done and that you additionally had a second stone replaced by another contractor."

Everything was very professional. Ruth, the contact person in the office, is very pleasant, efficient, and helpful. Jim came to estimate the cost within a couple of days of my first call. The quote was right in the middle of the range that the City said it should be. Keith came a few days later to scope the line. He showed me the connection, cleaned up very well. The crew who did the replacement came right on time, were friendly, and professional. They ran into some obstacles as the work done by another company for the house behind us had filled in their hole with small rocks. This made the job longer for the Apex crew; they worked until it was done (around 5:00 pm) and did not charge more than the quote. We have had not problems with the line since they came. The ONLY VERY SMALL thing I would complain about is that they poured their waste water from sawing the original cement onto my roses. I know the water is fine, but it did leave a bit of a mess around the roses. Not a big thing.
Response from APEX Plumbing Co.
"Hello and thank you for your review. We would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge your small complaint regarding the disposal of the crew's waste water. We understand your concerns and have made impressions with all of our crews to ensure that in the future, the aesthetics of the property after our work is complete is left satisfactory, as this has always been our policy. We hope that you will refer us to friends and colleagues and look forward to working with you on future projects. Kindest Regards, APEX Plumbing staff"

I have had re-occurring problems with the mainline backing up and flooding the basement. The 99 dollar rooter guy hit mud at 34 feet. The 99 dollar camera guy verified that there was a clog in the mainline and marked it. He recommended Apex Plumbing because they have all of the tools needed to get the job done and don't have to sub-contact any of the job. I got a quick estimate from them and then they made time in their full schedule to get this done ASAP. We were unable to run any water because of the drain back-up and they helped us out by getting their people out after hours to get this done. They did an excellent job and put everything back the way it was. The cost of the service was reasonable and was exactly what was quoted. I am extremely impressed with this company and would highly recommend them to anyone needing mainline service.

Very good. Quick response and repair work. Best quote of 3 estimates that I got. Had to change plan after original looking at the pipe because there wasn't enough pitch to the pipe. The yard looked mostly the same after the repair. I wish I would have called them earlier.

After getting a bid of $17,500 from another company, we called Apex on the recommendation of two friends. Both friends had Apex do the same work we needed. Apex was professional and responsive from the very first call. They took only two days to do the excavation and pipe replacement -- a very big project. I was very impressed that they took down and replaced fences in the yard on along the alley. The other company said that replacing the fences would have to be done on our dime. Apex presented a clear explanation of what they woud do and were willing to answer any questions we had throughout the whole process. There were only two items that I found fault with. First, they had moved the dumpsters in the alley and did not replace them until asked to do so. Second, it took them more than a week to pour asphalt and pave over the depression in the alley where they had to excavate. They had filled in the hole and poured concrete but it took seven days to get them to pave over the concrete and smooth over the depression. To their credit, however, they had cordoned off that section of the alley so no one would drive into the depression. We feel like we got good service from Apex. We would recommend them.

.It started with a clogged toilet in the basement, then the bad news, the sewer line had a low spot in it from the soil settling in the front yard.
They came out and dig up the old sewer and replaced about a third of the basement line, very good job took only 2 days the first time.
Then I had them check the rest of the line in the basement when they finished the outside. The line was old  and had low spots , so I had them do the rest of the basement, That took a couple more days.
They did a professional job , very satisfied,  but waited to do a review , just in case...
Then came the the sink hole , the size of a basketball in the yard, From all the rain we had.
One Call and they were out to add more soil to fill in the hole.
Very good response after the work was  done and we had a problem.
They took care of their customer, even scoped the line to see if there was any damage that we could not see.
All was well.
Thank You

All aspects of my experience with Apex, from cost estimation to cleanup, were professional. Apex replaced approximately 44 feet of broken main line from the city line to my residence as well as the tap into the city line using trenchless technology. The work was begun and completed in 1 day. They also installed cleanouts (which I may never need to use), outside the house. I was amazed at the efficiency and coordination between Apex and its subs in installing what is the gold standard of sewer lines, trenchless technology. I have not experienced 1 problem in the elapsed 21 months. The line will most probably last decades, so I will probably have no need to rehire Apex for work at this address. But if I did, I certainly would.

I am mixed on their review. we had a deadline on the property and they did finish in time. I didn't like it that they raised their price after quoting 4600.00 they then said they had to raise their price because they used another companys camera work to do their quote from. so we had to pay them as we had the house under contract and closing was coming up soon. so I think I might use them again as they did get it done for us but I would nail them down on their price up front or insist they did their own camera work. all in all the got it done and it was a pretty big job so I would cut them some slack and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Excavation and replacement of the line was good.  The amount of dirt that needed to be moved was significant and I do wish there was some prior planning done on where to move all the dirt so that other landscaping was not covered.  The fact that the line had to go through the neighbor's yard added to the troubles.  Landscaping before and after was definitely not the same, but on a job of this magnitude, it would be difficult to put things back perfectly.  I requested several changes to the redone landscaping and Apex complied with no questions asked.
All in all, Apex did a solid job.  The only concern I had was replacing the landscaping which they did about as good as you could all things considered.

Jim McLemore was the estimator and managed the account.  I recommend Jim for his knowledge, straight talk and professionalism.  Apex was not the least expensive and they were far from the most:  Work was started on schedule and the original project was completed on time.   An opportunity was uncovered and I extended the contract.  This caused some juggling in Apex' scheduling, and some unfortunate luck in personnel availability caused a delay in completion of only the work extension.  Mark worked long and late to make up lost time and I appreciate his help.  Interruption in the use of the drains was kept to a minimum and there was no overnight loss of use.  All work sites were left clean.  Thanks Apex.  Thanks Mark, Thanks Jim.

We have to have the roots cleared out about once a year.  We were doing it ourselves but tried Apex a couple of years ago and found they did such a good job we didn't have to do it so often.  When they clean the drain this time they hit something hard and it broke the bit.  They took the initative to do a video to see what was obstructing the line.  We found out that there was a broken pipe.  They marked where the break was so that we could make the decision on how to go about fixing it.  There was no pressure in them repairing it.   They were very informative on what would need to be done.

I called Apex Plumbing on 12/18/12 to provide a quote.  They provided a quote that same day, came out on 12/21 to locate and returned on 12/26 to complete the repairs.  They scoped the sewer line downstream of the repairs and confirmed that the rest of the line was in good shape.
I would not have called them except that the first quote I received seemed awfully high.  I received a total of three quotes for this work and both Apex and another company had similar bids, much lower than the first quote I was given.  I'm glad I called them.
They arrived on time and completed the work.  No issues.  Currently waiting for warmer weather to pour the concrete.  Very happy with their service.

Everything went great. This came up in our new rental property 3 weeks after the tenants moved in; we HAD to replace the sewer line and we had to do it fast because tenants were in the home.
I had to leave town for multiple weeks and needed a company who I could trust to take care of everything in my absence. They did a great job. I would definitely work with them again.

Good bunch of guys. Hardworking, friendly, relatively fast. The pipe under the street was replaced quickly and professionally. The pipe under the house was done well with the exception of a new toilet rough that was set in concrete too far from the wall. The company tore up the concrete and fixed the distance so the toilet would fit. Everything worked out.

Apex was by far the lowest bid, and had good enough reviews that I was confident they would do a decent job.  They set a date, showed up right on time and met their schedule easily.
The only complaints I have is that since my basement was backed up with sewage (I rent this out, so its a pretty bid deal) I was pushing them to prioritize my job, which I was told was a good possibility when they gave me the estimate.  They didn't do that, and I had to wait over a week for them to come out.   They never definitively told me they would, so I don't have much of a complaint here.
Also, there was a huge root ball that was on the joint they were replacing, and the root ball ended up on the city side of the sewer after Apex was done.  This led to the basement flooding AGAIN after I had already cleaned it up.  It wasn't too big of a deal to manage the situation since the city came out the next morning and cleared it out for me, but it seems to me it wouldn't have been too much trouble for them to reach into the city pipe and clear out the ball of roots in there, or at least followed through more effectively with the city to ensure I wouldn't have further problems like this.
In any case, all said and done, the job was done and everything turned out on schedule and on budget.   The price was good, and I would definitely use them again if their estimates remain reasonable.

The city of Arvada told us our sewer line did not need replacement, but to have it cleaned. They stated it had a hairline crack, but was leaking no sewage. They also recomended that we get it cleaned every 2 years or so, don't wait until it clogs
