Energy Star Exteriors

These guys are either completely unethical or completely incompetent. Either way—we’d recommend staying far, far away! We signed a contract with Energy Star for a total exterior remodel of our rental property(roof, siding, windows, wood repair, etc.) after seeing all the positive reviews from multiple websites. What a terrible mistake! Hands down, Energy Star Exteriors is the worst company/contractor that we’ve ever worked with! They even tried to milk us for an extra $13,000 for work that was fully covered by insurance (we verified this with two other independent contractors). There are honestly too many headaches and frustrations to list here. But here are a few highlights: 1. Energy Star Exteriors took NINE months to finish the project after originally estimating 6-9 weeks (there were literally weeks and weeks when nothings was done on the house) 2. The company sent us multiple “final” invoices of varying amounts towards the end of the project. Why would the amount change multiple times at the end of the project, unless their aim was to get more money from us? 3. Repeatedly harassed us to submit payment before the work was completed (a direct violation of the contract terms) and 4. Threatened legal action against us for payment and showed us at our primary residence unannounced and uninvited for payment. Creepy!! (Luckily, we sent the check via certified mail the day after the work was completed, proving that the mistake was on their end. Apparently, their office manager was on “vacation.”). Nothing but stress and frustration with Energy Star Exteriors!

Wonderful experience with Kirk Johnson and Energy Star Exteriors. We got three quotes for the siding and windows, not intending to do the roof. When Kirk looked at our roof, and the water damage in the soffits, he said he couldn't do the job in good conscience unless he did the roof because it wasn't done well the first time and didn't have weather barrier. When his quote came in, it was comparable to the other quotes without the roof! Needless to say, we hired him. The work was top notch and his crew was very easy to work with. Kirk was involved on a daily basis, and in contact with us throughout the project. I would highly recommend Energy Star Exteriors to anyone considering exterior work on their home. We are extremely pleased!

The service was excellent. They showed up on time each day. I felt that they performed in a very professional manner. They also cleaned up after themselves very well and finished the job very quickly. I have referred them to other people in my area and to all of my friends, and I wouldn’t hesitate to refer them to anyone in the future.

This is a fabulous team to work with! From consultation through installation everyone was knowledgeable, professional, and extremely personable. The work was done quickly but with great precision and care. The price is unbeatable. Several of my neighbors has already reached out to them. What a great team!

What a Great Experience! This is a rental property of mine in Aurora, Co. and I didn’t have to be there to get everything done. Kirk at Energy Star Exteriors went above and beyond and got my insurance company to pay for new windows on top of the roof, siding, and gutters. My townhouse complex was severely damaged in a hail storm in 2014. We all have the same 30 year old single pane windows. Me and my neighbors that used Energy Star Exteriors were able to get new double pane energy efficient windows for free and my neighbors that used other roofing companies were not able to get their windows replaced. We are so grateful that we found Kirk and Energy Star Exteriors. They did outstanding work, and cleaned up after themselves on the inside and outside of my home once they were finished. They were very prompt and finished my roof the week after I got my 1st insurance check. Many of my neighbors that hired other roofers waited months. I highly recommend them for any project. They are a pleasure to work with.

I recently had my windows and sliding glass door replaced by Energy Star Exteriors. I was extremely happy with my experience. Kirk at Energy Star come to my home and assured me that he would go to my insurance company to get the windows replaced due to a rain and hail storm that was severe; although the insurance company paid for coverage on my roof, they only allowed for glazing on the windows. Kirk and his assistant Rhonda put in paperwork and got the windows approved, much to my delight. When their installers came, they were polite and organized...they left my house clean and with lovely new windows. I actually had Energy Star replace my roof as well and was extremely pleased. I would use the company again and have referred them to friends who also had new windows installed by them and told me they were very happy with the experience and result. Linda D.

I've known Kirk since 1998 - he is the hardest worker I have ever known. If it's effort you need, Kirk's your man, no matter your problem. Kirk is an honest businessman and if he says it, you can count on it. We have worked together on many projects in the construction, real estate, entrepreneur, etc. and Kirk will work tirelessly to "get it done". I recommend him highly!
