We lost everything that we put into that property. We built a $4000.00 deck on the back and lost the property the modular was on because we used it as colateral to get the loan. The property had been in my family for 30 years. I hired an attorney but he was no help to me what so ever. I eventually had to file bankruptcy on the property and call it a complete loss.
Description of Work: Michael of Vigil Construction was hired as our general contractor. He was responsible for bringing in the crew to pour an 80 ft by 30 ft by 12 ft high foundation for a modular home. He was also responsible for doing all the backfill on the property. We had planned to have a two car garage/walk out basement. To start off the pour was bad there was honeycombs throughout. After the basement had seasoned enough, Mr. Vigil's crew began the backfill process. We had a huge city lot that we could use the dirt from. We did not have to have any dirt delivered to the property. Unfortunately, for us each time they passed the wall on the northside of the foundation they continued to hit it with the backhoe. When I came home from work and saw what was done it was already too late. The foundation had large cracks throughout and was completely lop sided. The city building inspector (If you could even call him that) at the time came up with an idea to put four deadmen at the back of the foundation and use an anchor and auger system in front of the foundation. I was told that the fix was would last for at least 50 years. We were in our house for almost three. The anchor and auger system gave way in the summer of 2004 during a bad rainstorm. When it broke it pulled the gas line away from the house. My family and I had to "jump" out of the house across a two foot crevase to get out of the house.
