First, let me say that if I could divorce Rhonda and the billing from the actual move itself, the review would be considerably different.
Four guys were scheduled to move me and the four guys that came were great. They were polite, professional, caring, careful, pleasant, I could go on. I have a couple specialty items (a marble table and an old upright piano) and they took extra care of everything. Many of my items were going to be moved into storage and they ensured that everything that went into storage was carefully wrapped and protected. Todd even came into the storage rental facility with me and told them that he could pack my items into a smaller unit than I had reserved - which he did - and saved me $75/month. They did a great job of packing everything into the storage unit like a game of tetris. The day for unloading the wind was blowing and cold, but they kept at such a great job. Everything that was moved into my new home was unwrapped and placed exactly where I wanted it - even when I made them move the marble table over once. They worked hard and long hours both days. It is a shame that the reputation of this moving company is suffering because of the actions of Rhonda.
Now the bad. I was first quoted $7,440. That quote included them packing my 2,800 sqft home and taking 3 days to move me. I told them it was too high. I dealt with Lindsey (nice) but the quotes came from Rhonda. They redid the quote, I would do all the packing myself, they would take 2 days to load/move/unload. Rhonda in her email stated the second quote would be on the high end because she included some extra supplies if the guys needed them. $6,000. Still high but if I had all supplies it would be lower than that. They called the afternoon before to say the names of the 4 guys so I would know. On the day of the move - who shows up - Rhonda. Why? Because she'd never been to Paonia? Then she charges me $660 for her to be there, plus extra for her overnighting with her husband. On top of the outrageous bill, after the fact, she charges me $900 for the guys (oh and her) to "go around" the pass rather than over the pass. I do believe their name is "mountain" movers. For all the previous quotes she knew exactly where I would be moving from and to and the $ 900 never showed up on any quotes, only after the fact when she tells me she is getting ready to charge my card. The crazy charges on top of charges included a $500 truck fee, + $360 mileage, +$347 food & accommodations; + the two days + the "$900 charge" + the fifth person - Rhonda. Total: $ 6784 - almost what it would have cost me if THEY did the packing NOT me and to only move 125 miles.
I went into the office in person to try to get her to delete at least the $1560 never before disclosed or wanted charges. No luck. Even though I could dispute more charges I am at least disputing the $1560 with my Credit Card company. Who asked her to come out and enjoy the sun for a day anyway - on top of the 4 guys? Outrageous behavior.
Hire the guys on the side but DON'T hire Majestic Mountain Movers - between the other review and this one - you have no idea what Rhonda will decide to add to the bill after the fact.
Truck was very delayed in arriving at the new location and so i felt a continued need to assist. As i unpacked over the next days i was impressed with the near perfect conidtion of all of my items. I was unimpressed with the follow up billing process which essentially was an email informing me the credit ward will be charged for "x" amount the next day. Since "X' smount was priced very differently then the estimate, I contacted the owner via email and the following exchange ensued. Needless to say customer service was not what my questions over the bill were met with. In fact please note that i had to initiate a response from the owner on a few occasions despite her responding that she would get back to me. In the end my questions were never answered.
Rhonda Anderson [email protected] 6/30/11 to me Hi Jessica- Here is the invoice for moving services. I will be charging the cc tommorrow. We greatly appreciate your business, Sincerely Rhonda
Jessica Grentner 7/7/11 to Rhonda,
Hi Rhonda, just playing some catch up with my email. thanks for the invoice. In reviewing i had some questions.
1. Time starts on here at 7:45 but no one was at my house until almost 9. The estimate used the time of 8 am which matched your suggested time of arrival on the day of.
2. In the estimate i noticed a half hour lunch break but there is not one taken in the final invoicing.
3. Are we paying for time for the third mover to be dropped off? I beat the truck to the first drop off point by two hours (basically i could have driven to carbondale and back again) and i left after they left my house, just after 1:00.
4. In the attached estimate you show 2 movers from 1:30-10 at $76 an hour. the invoice shows that a different rate was charged after 7:45. Can you explain. thanks again rhonda. Jessica
Rhonda Anderson [email protected] 7/8/11 to me I will review that and get back to you, rka -
Jessica Grentner 8/21/11 to Rhonda Hi Rhonda, can you please update? thanks, jessica
Rhonda Anderson [email protected] 8/22/11 to me I have reviewed your invoice and see that we owe you a 20.00 credit. I will credit your CC, thanks, Rhonda
Jessica Grentner 8/22/11 to Rhonda Can you please go over? I had a few direct questions and we feel as though your estimate doesn't match up. An explanation will help us greatly Thanks j
Jessica Grentner 9/1/11 to Rhonda Hi Rhonda, I wanted to reach out on last time to see if you could address our questions. We would much prefer to handle this directly then to involve Amex. If we haven't heard back by the 6th, next tuesday then we will have no choice but to move forward with Amex. thank you,Jessica
Rhonda Anderson [email protected] 9/1/11 to me Hi Jessica- I see where you may have a problem-, although it does say in our contract that after 9 hours we charge time and 1/2. Now i didn't charge any overtime until we were over 12 hours. By colorado state law I am required to pay my staff overtime after 12 hours. I feel like we went above and beyond to do additional work to storage etc for you, this added additional time. Also I came out on my own time and packed your Televisions. So I believe our pricing to be fair. If you would like to take this matter to your credit card company, that is your priority. I do have a signed contract that states in bold that we are hourly and that prices may change based on hours worked. It also states that we charge overtime after nine hours. I hope you are enjoying your new residence. With Best Regards, Rhonda
Jessica Grentner 9/2/11 to Rhonda Thanks Rhonda, I appreciate that you think you went above and beyond. Interesting assessment considering you were present for only a few hours. Additionally our issues are that YOU estimated incorrectly. We are not responsible for what you have pay your employees and we both know that even the normal labor rate is not even close to what your paying your laborers. Labor laws do not apply here. You not doing a thorough job on your estimate is the issue and we will not pay for your errors. You billing is fraudulent and deceptive. Furthermore I helped unload and load the truck the entire day just to keep close to the schedule. So no, you did not go above and beyond and we fully paid for the trip to storage. Good luck with Amex. Charging the full amount without our consent or the opportunity to review the bill will also work against you. I am sorry that you don't choose to take responsibility. Isn't this was angies list if for? Best Jessica
Rhonda Anderson [email protected] 9/1/11 to me Angies list Come on whatever! you better add everyone you have ever worked with then, cause you seem to have a problem with everyone! your just one great consumer arent you. Try to discredit our company and i'll have you for slander!!!!!!!
Jessica Grentner 9/2/11 to Rhonda Thank you Rhonda for your time. I am very sorry you were not able to answer our questions with regard to the bill despite having requested you do so three times. We were hoping to solve this in a productive and professional manner. Sadly that does not seem to be where this exchange is going. Best of luck to you. Jessica PS I had/have no plans to discredit you. Your last email did it for you.
