Terrible. The ductwork was wrong, they forgot to put exchange vents in a couple of rooms and I had to get them over to my house for 5 different service calls. The straw that broke the camel's back was when the humidifying system they installed and which never worked, flooded my basement for the second time, my husband was out of town, burning hot water was spraying out of a tiny valve that had a hole in it, it was also installed incorrecty, my 9-year old and I both got burns and it ruined several things in my basement. I spoke with the VP of Ops who is related to the owner. When I spoke with him he handled it exactly the way you would hope a company would handle a chronic and miserable situation like this. I soon realized he was lying to me. Before I knew it he pretended he didn't know me and never made promises of fixing all the problems they caused and referred me to there legal person. Couldn't believe this guy, in the end I think he just didn't know how to stand up to his dad, brother, whatever. In the end a got a few hundred bucks to replace the damaged items only upon releasing them from any further service calls. I will NEVER use them or recommend them to anyone again.

Five different to completely resolve the AC issues. First was to clean condenser, 4 hrs. of work for initial price. OUTSTANDING!

Second, third, and fourth visit used time to eval the roller fan and sync. This caused the condenser to freeze out and have leak on mother board then needing replacement.

Fifth visit was again refrigerant to freeze over. Placed fan on high for three days while keeping control board dry by fans.

However expansion valves needing replacement, was explained and educated on prevented AC maintenance. Great work ethic and attitude. I'll hire them again, as I have gotten to know the two techs that have had follow thru on the unit.

Chris was on time and professional. Diagnosed the problem immediately, found a replacement motor, drove to get it and had it installed pretty quickly. He wasn't sure if it was under warranty so he went to the trouble to find out (it was - parts, anyway). He took the time to explain what he was doing. He was neat in his work. He inspected the rest of the heating system but since he was already in there didn't charge for that. After he inspected the A/C he said we were good to go this summer but made some recommendations for next year. Tried to up-sell me to a service plan - don't they all - but didn't push.

Steele Bros Heating installed a hot water heater at my house in 2008 with a 6-year warranty.  In early August the tank ruptured.  I discovered the leak early in the morning and called their office.  They were still closed so I left a message telling them that my water heater was pouring water onto my basement floor and it was still under warranty.  When they didn't call me back within a reasonable amount of time, I contacted another plumbing company which dispatched a plumber.  Steele Bros (Lenny) 'warranty manager' called me back before the other plumber arrived and when I told him that I had another plumber on the way, he told me that "if anyone else touches that heater the warranty would be void".  I called the other plumbing company back and had them cancel the plumber that was on the way.  Lenny came to my house and looked at the heater.  He told me that he would contact the manufacturer and find out what the warranty situation was.  A few hours later he called me back and informed me that the manufacturer was going to give me a new hot water heater but that "they charge $750 to install it" inferring that the manufacturer would be doing the installation and that Steele Bros has no control over the price.  I was outraged and asked what their hourly charge was and Lenny told me that they (the manufacturer) don't charge by the hour but rather "by the job and this was a $750 job".  I felt like I had no choice but to agree to the charge as the heater was still leaking and causing hundreds of dollars of damage to my basement.  I was very surprised to see two Steele Bros employees arrive with the new heater later that day.  They did the installation in about two hours and I paid them with a credit card.
The next day I called State, the manufacturer, to speak with them about the warranty and installation charges.  They told me that my warranty WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN VOID if another plumbing company had come to the house and worked on the system.  They also told me that THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH INSTALLATION CHARGES and it was up to me to have it installed by the contractor of my choice and that it didn't have to be Steele Bros.
Steele Bros mislead me into believing that they were the only ones that could work on my hot water heater without voiding the warranty.  They also midlead me by telling me that the manufacturer was the one that set the installation charges and that Steele Bros had no control over it.
I had a conversation with Dave, the owner, about the situation.  First he claimed that Lenny wouldn't have known anything about my warranty and that maybe Lenny thought I had some other warranty with Steele Bros that would have been voided.  Really?  The last time they were at my house was in 2008.  Dave also refused to address the fact that Lenny lied to me about the manufacturer being the installer and tried to justify $750 in installation fees, which wasn't the point to begin with even though it was outrageously expensive for yanking out one heater and putting in a duplicate. Dave also told me it was up to me to research all of my options which I guess means "buyer beware".  I called four local 'A Rated' plumbing companies listed on Angies List to find out what they would charge for the same job.  They all came in between $300 and $500.
I filed a detailed complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  Steele Bros denied everything, and claimed that all charges and options were explained to me in full before anything was done which is a complete lie.  I definitely feel like they took advantage of me, especially as a single woman in an emergency situation.

I got 3 bids for furnace replacement, they were the cheapest bar far.  They cleaned up, took the old furnace - everything was great.

I got 4 estimates and chose Steel Bros because of their ratings and the price for a top rated furnace/air conditioner was over $4000 less than than the other three.  I used Angie's List, BBB and Home Adviser to check out the companies and Consumers Report to check the furnace ratings.  I chose a 96.2 rated system and qualified for rebates which helped reduce the cost even more.  I like the salesman because he didn't try to get me to purchase anything I didn't need and he followed through on the installation to be sure every thing was done to my satisfaction.

I first contacted three contractors.  The first two bids were identical.  The third was signifiantly different.  I then contacted three other contractors.  I ended up going with Steele Brothers because their installed price for the quietest and super efficient single stage central air conditioning unit was substantially lower than other bidders.  After conducting research, some contractors proposed units that were not compatible with my furnace.  Others proposed installing the same unit as Steele brothers at a price almost $3,000 higher than Steele Brothers.  Steele brothers had a better warranty than most others and at a substantially better price.
The salesman, Phil, from Steele Brothers explained things very well.  He was exceptionally trustworthy and took his time explaining everything.
Steele Brothers installed the unit on the scheduled date without incident.  The unit works great and my house is cool. The association is satisfied because the unit is exceptionally quiet.
After researching various different units and obtaining 6 bids, Steele Brothers was, by far, the best in: (1) quality of unit; (2) price for unit and installation; and (3) warranty.
I highly recommend Steele Brothers.

Our request for an estimate was responded to immediately.  This was one of three estimates received.  The estimator showed up promptly and explained entire process and helped us come to a decision regarding which furnace to purchase.  Written estimate was provided the next day.
The installers were on time and very professional and thorough.  After the installation they explained the use of everything.  Installation took no more than 4 hours. No mess was made and this was surprising as it was a wet snowy day.   Excellent!

Two servicemen came out simply to clean the furnaces.  One of the servicemen was a trainee, and was allowed by the other to work unsupervised on the basement furnace.  He took it apart but could not re-assemble it.  Fortunately, I realized that it was not functioning as they tried to leave.  They spent the next several hours troubleshooting and putting it back together.  Next time, I'll verify that the servicemen aren't learning on the job.

Appointments were promptly kept and the workers showed up on time. However, we paid for an A/C coil to be put on at the same time as the furnace, in anticipation of installing central air later. It wasnt until after they left that we saw they didnt even bring a coil, much less install one. Someone later brought the coil to the house in the box. This year, we had estimates done for central air, and even though they promised to install the coil for us for free when we decided to go ahead with AC, they wouldnt even return our calls. So we checked with other companies, and three different independent contractors said that the furnace installation was done so incorrectly, it would have to be completely taken out in order to ever fit an AC coil on there and then repositioned and reinstalled! Now we have a worthless coil and no reasonable hope for Central Air. We will NEVER use this company again.
